How customer reviews and ratings work

Customer Reviews, including Product Star Ratings help customers to learn more about the product and decide whether it is the right product for them.

To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyzed reviews to verify trustworthiness.

I have had these headphones for about a week now, so if anything happens I’ll change my review. But I must say I LOVE THEM. They work great the range on the headphone are amazing. I left my phone playing upstairs and I walked all the way to my kitchen and they stayed connected. I love how they look and feel. They stay in my ears very well too. I must say over all with these are amazing. Would buy again.

Hi update still love them. My battery life is lasting just fine. I wear them for my nine hour shifts and they last almost the whole time! I just have an issue with the ear buds staying connected together. I’m buying a pair for my bf now.

1.0 out of 5 starsUpdate #8, battery life declines with use- reducing to 1 stars
Reviewed in the United States on June 16, 2020
Update#1: charging case failed after 3 days- returning for exchange
1st review:
Longer battery life, can use either bud by itself- a REAL UPGRADE!
Arrived charged up and ready to go- nice surprise.
Paired right away
Has longer battery life- will update review once I get some real-life battery use and times
CAN USE either bud by itself- I listen mostly to podcasts, this is awesome!
Seals out ambient noise well,( I use with weed wacker) with the supplied ear seals
Has "EQ" modes easily accessed
Better than other units which cost 3 times more!

****** NOTE THAT THE CHARGING CASE FAILED AFTER THREE DAYS- returning for exchange.
another update
The exchanged unit is working well after 4 weeks- 4 star rating, will update if these continue to provide good results..or bad!

+++++++++ Buds left in the charging case may turn on and run down the battery, then recharge...depleting the charging case in a 1/2 day- this may also cause audio problem as the BT interrupts wired headphone use
Once charged, remove from case and manually turn off until needed- update...buds turned OFF and sitting on the table have turned on and attempted to pair- running down the battery- it has also happened that buds torned OFF have turned on interrupting iphone audio through wired buds- have to remember to turn iphone bluetooth off.
- if using 1 bud while the other is charging, the bud on the charger may cycle on and off and that may cause your connection to drop and reconnect ( audio intermittent) with the bud in your ear OR with wired earbuds!

I think this and charge case issues may be the reason why these have limited availability at amazon or skullcandy website- watch for a version 2 ....!?

Update 5: after about 5 or 6 weeks the battery life is declining- the left seems to be about 4 hours, the right is about 2 hours use... they were closer to 5 hours when new
Update 6: battery life is reduced- this could be associated with the above buds turning themselves on

the bluetooth has been quite good ---when it works--- with range of 50' not unusual

Update 7: buds, FULLY charged and manually turned off and left for 48 hours- on power up showed 1/2 strength and turned off after 2 hours
These buds have great audio and bluetooth- the power/battery management in a mess.
I will be returning this set ( third set)

2.0 out of 5 stars Disappointed! Battery life not as advertised.
Reviewed in the United States on August 8, 2020
Color: Pure MintVerified Purchase
I purchased the Skullcandy Sesh Evo after comparing a lot of bluetooth earbuds. I liked the color, the in-ear design. The music quality was decent for going on runs, they resist sweat and water, and they were comfortable. It was great that I could use either or both earbuds at a time. They came with a 2-year warranty and Tile tracking. Those are the only positive things I can say about these earbuds and don't outweigh the negatives.

Unfortunately, the battery life is NOT as advertised. They come in a charging case that is constantly losing power unless it's constantly plugged in. (If I forgot and left it unplugged overnight, then I had to wait to recharge them). Even if they have been fully charged in the case, the earbuds do NOT last 5 hours as advertised. It's more like 20-30 minutes (and this is in the first month of owning/using them). I would hate to have to rely on these while traveling.

Another frustrating thing is call quality. The people on the other end of my calls complain that it's hard to hear and choppy. I also found that I had mediocre receiving call sound.

I thought I could save these just for going on runs/walks, but I am returning them.

I've always been in love with skull candy products. I love these almost as much as my Crushers. When they arrived they were completely out of battery charging for only 15 minutes gave me completely full on the earbuds and half full on the charging case. The sound is absolutely incredible and they are super loud and can drown out everything.
Yet another amazing Skullcandy product.

1.0 out of 5 stars Won’t charge. Short battery life. Right earbud dies.
Reviewed in the United States on December 3, 2020

UPDATE: Yes, I have run into the problem with the right earbud not charging/holding a charge. Useless.

I thought the whole idea of a battery case was you put the earbuds in the case, and when you take them out they’re charged. Simple, right? You’d think. But no. Too many times I’ve put the buds in their charging case, which, itself indicates it has at least 3/4 of a charge left. Open up. Red lights off. Take out, put in ear. Either they shut down right away, or in five minutes I hear “low battery” and then they shut down. My iPhone even said 100 percent charge, but no. Waste of money and time.

When I first got these I was very happy they fit perfect in my ears they were light weight battery was good and charging was fast but that all changed one side will work one minute then the next it doesn't they don't stay connected there is gaps in my music at times also the charging case is very sensitive so I basically have to watch it to make sure the ear buds are charging unfortunately they didn't even last 6 months before I started having problems with them I am now looking for another pair of wireless earbuds.

Update: charging case finally stopped working reducing to one star due to that.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great improvement on a solid product

I upgrade to these from the original sesh due to a dog eating them. They improved the sound quality (tuned the bass down just a bit) battery life and I think are using a different push button switch that is easily we to push.
They have a wide range for the Bluetooth, I’m able to go 20ft away from my phone without loosing a connection. Very comfortable to wear all day. Very little to complain about honestly

2.0 out of 5 stars What happened to quality control? Glad I purchased at "½" price (according to Amazon)...
Reviewed in the United States on December 11, 2020

Out of the box impressions? Not great, as soon as I took it out of the shipment package, I noticed the box had a hole in it (see picture)... Not sure if it happened during s&h, but the last thing anyone wants, on-sale or not, is to receive a busted package... That concerns me, what caused the hole? Perhaps it was dropped or had something heavy fall, or perhaps thrown, on top of it; the impact that caused it could've damaged the buds/charging case themselves. That aside, everything turned on & worked upon unboxing, the buds functioned as they should, & paired without issues.

PROS: wireless.

CONS: the buds seemed "cheap"... I know that's subjective but the plastic housings felt, well, cheap. Not a fan of all the "features" (most of which are useless to me), & the included manual was *huge, tells you very little, & was beyond vague (I'm talkin a picture with 1 sentence). I feel that the mode press combinations (to change modes, turn buds on/off, pair with BT, answer calls, etc.) are *way too close together... i.e. the instructions say to press the buds for 4 seconds to do 1 thing, but in another section of the instructions, it says that a 4 second press does something completely different; pressing a button on the right bud, does something different than pressing the left buds button (& gets even *more confusing when using only 1 at a time)... The buttons on the buds have nice, clicky, feedback which I like, but at the same time you have to press them pretty hard to make em click (to the point that it hurts my ear cause they jam deeper into it while doing so, they'd have been much better off putting a side-squeeze button rather than pushing that amount of force directly into your ear). I recommend taking them out of your ear while pressing the buttons. They have 2 indicators for modes: audio & visual (there's little blinking lights on the buds that change with the respective modes. Another downside is when I put the buds back into their charging case, they auto-off, which I also like, however, the left bud works properly as soon as I put it in there but the right bud I have to wiggle around to get the contact points just right in order to function like it's supposed to. The buds also auto connected to my phone (the only device I paired them to) while they were in the case & *should've been off... This leads me to believe that the right bud gets jostled around in there & loses contact with the prongs that auto-off/charge them. Thusly, it auto-on'ed inside the case & automatically connected. This is a HUGE flaw & will undoubtedly affect the battery life of *1 of the buds. The sound isn't what I'm used to when it comes to Skullcandy either (probably due to them being wireless), all in all I feel these buds are some cheap knockoffs with the Skullcandy name brand slapped on em. Last but not least, do *not charge the case with anything other than a laptop/computer or Xbox/Playstation USB outlet. Every wall charger I own, even for my phone, is way too powerful for the case & *will damage/completely break it.

I would *never buy these at Amazon's listed "full price", & I'm 2nd guessing the worth of what I paid for them; way too many issues for what they are & I'm afraid they're gonna be FUBAR sooner than later. If they have these issues out of the box, what're they gonna be like after a couple weeks of use?

1.0 out of 5 stars Charging case failed after first charge
Reviewed in the United States on July 9, 2020
Color: True BlackVerified Purchase
Update, July, 2021: Please consider this product, despite my negative review. NY Times Wirecutter has restored this as their "Budget Pick" for "Best Bluetooth Earbuds" after working with Skullcandy to confirm the flaw I note here has been corrected. I haven't bought a new pair myself, but I trust Wirecutter's recommendations!

Original Review: I'm very disappointed. As reported in several other one-star reviews, my charging case worked once, and now does not take a charge. Worse, I can't find any meaningful response from Skullcandy here on Amazon, on their web site, or in the Twitter threads I found. I chose the Sesh Evo because Wirecutter made it their "Budget Pick" for best wireless earbuds, so I'm especially sad, since Wirecutter usually makes good recommendations.
