Product Description
Just ask around you'll find that small pets truly enjoy this orchard hay. Small pet select searches long and hard specifically for the highest quality orchard hay for rabbits, guinea pigs, and chinchillas in the world and deliver it fresh to your door. As most small animal owners know, hay is an extremely important part of their pets diet. And since small animals can be picky eaters especially when it comes to their hay, we take the chore of delivering the very highest quality hay to each and every pet very seriously. This hay is hand selected using only the very best quality with rabbits, guinea pigs, and chinchillas. It is then hand packaged into a high strength corrugated box in very small batches, and the quality is re-checked as the item ships. This process ensures the very highest quality hay arrives to your door each and every time. The end result is a hay product that is beautifully green, soft, sweet tasting, and so fragrant you can practically smell the meadows.

2. The hay doesn't look awful, but it's definitely not as fresh as the 10lb box I ordered last time (which arrived well packaged like the image shown). I switched from Timothy hay because my guineas are super picky and I couldn't find a consistently decent brand of Timothy hay and was wasting money on stuff they wouldn't eat. I thought orchard grass would be better as I've never seen a bad batch of it.
I'm going back to the last brand of orchard grass I bought because my guineas aren't going to eat this. I tried giving them some from the bottom of the box and they'll lay on it, but aren't eating it. I'm not sure how in the world I'm going to return a 20lb box of hay, but I'm going to try. If I'm not able to return it, I guess this will be money wasted and a lesson learned.

Customer service response "Thank you for being our customer and sharing your concern along with a photo; we appreciate it. As small pet parents ourselves, we understand your concern for your little one which is why we always recommend checking everything you feed them, just like you would for yourself. While it is a rare occurrence, hay is bound so tightly during the harvest baling process that the twine can snap resulting in the twine getting baled in with the hay. We don't always see what's inside the layers.
It will not hurt your pet to pull it out, nor is it at risk of contaminating the hay. Baling twine is purposely a bright blue so it can be easily seen when feeding pets/livestock making it easier to pick out.
As a friendly disclaimer, we advise our customers, to open and inspect all packages even if you don't need them right away. This helps ensure all issues (i.e., missing items, delivery issues, product concerns) are reported within 14 days of placing your order. Here's the full Small Pet Select return policy."
The satisfaction guarantee of product is only for 14 days from delivery. So although I normally highly recommend this hay in my guinea pig support groups and encourage that they have a satisfaction guarantee I'll have to be sure to tell them they must sift through a 50 pound box of hay to find and report any problems if you expect the company to stand behind their product!

I've revised my listing from three stars to five. I ordered a 50lb box of Orchard grass. When it arrived, I noticed that there were "pricker weeds" in with the Orchard grass. This presents a real threat to my Guinea pigs as cuts in the mouth can easily get infected. (We lost a beloved piggy this way.) I contacted Small Pet Select and they sent an new 50lb box free of charge, I'm really happy with the product and the company.

I am looking forward to experiencing the fragrance of the Timothy hay!
I have tried many hays & have not purchased any that, like this one' seems like it has Just been picked & dried yesterday.
It is good to have a variety of hays & the great quality over quantity of this purchase of Orchard hay, I would imagine reflects on the smaller than average size of bag... But..... I also imagine that it wouldn't take much of it to liven up a less fragrant hay.
So the quality & diversity when mixed with other hays that maybe less palatable to your small animal is something to consider.... Or even the possibility of the beginning of adequate hay eating for an animal that's not been too keen up to now... but "Could" possibly find this irresistible.
