The main ingredient, “tapioca fiber,” is isomalto-oligosaccharide. It’s a chain of glucose molecules and multiple recent studies show it acts just like glucose in your body. These candies are made of tapioca-derived sugar.
The FDA *DOES NOT* consider IMO to be fiber, but until 2021 companies earning less than $10 million in revenue don’t have to change their nutrition panels or reformulate, so this outrageous, dangerous scam is currently legal.
It makes me feel queasy reading all these reviews from parents feeding them to their kids, people trying to lose weight, people who are being materially harmed by this product. These could literally kill a diabetic. I’m contacting customer support about this separately.

Hey! I'm Tara, founder of SmartSweets.
I started SmartSweets after my love affair with candy turned into an unhealthy relationship with food, and I experienced the negative effects excess sugar has on our health. I tried to eat less sugar, but that only led me to crave candy even more, sparking my quest to kick sugar, and keep candy. After spending months recipe testing in my kitchen with a gummy bear mold from Amazon, I innovated the first delicious candy - without all the sugar.
