This rendition sucks. The new story line would've been fine if the plot actually made sense. Cut scene after cut scene. They didn't take advantage of any of the star cast and their fighting skills. As soon as you thought you were going to get a good fight it jumped to another scene. Poor directing. We wasted 2 hours that we can't get back.

Hated the story - took away his honor

Many plot holes in addition to ruining a good origin story. Very unbelievable and to take Snake Eye’s honor and skill away is just crap. This version of the character doesn’t give you an example to follow or to be proud of like the original. Just a loser who gets lucky. Not believable at all. I grew up on GI Joe. This just ruined it for a new generation.

I love snake-eyes, been a fan of his storyline since Marvel had the franchise. I know the backstory of Snake-eyes has changed over the years, but this rendition isn't great. All the main characters that touch Snake-eyes is there, but there really wasn't any good development of the character that I love.

Rent the movie to try it out if you have to watch before making the mistake that I did and out right buy the movie like I normally do for big hits, since I know I will watch them again. Maybe a few years down the road I may watch it again, meh maybe not.

Huge GI Joe fan this is a rather bland and uninspiring story, Even the action sequences are fair at best They totally messed up the storyline of the hard and soft master and they veer significantly from the comic book story. Basically a steaming pile of poo not worth watching.

Terrible Plot, Terrible Special Effects and Female Dominated!
Verified purchase
We were excited to see a 'preview' to Snake Eyes to see how he came to be who he was in the G.I. Joe series but this has the worst plot one could imagine. You have no desire to wish him well as he goes through the movie lusting for revenge. Snake Eyes becomes responsible for a hundred deaths, is a thief, a liar, and just not a likable character! Even though he does not change the movie writers decided that everyone just forgives him for everything after he tears apart his friends and enemies. Also an unusual observation, this is a VERY female dominated movie-women know the correct way to live and hold power and men just walk through this movie dragging their knuckles. The fight scenes were to the point we were laughing at the 'flying people'. Don't expect any special effects of any quality what-so-ever.

Movie sucks and ruins previous plots from GI Joe movies. If trying to make more movies based on this film...will ruin GI Joes for 80s kids and new generation who knows nothing about this. Horrible back and forth plot changing.

My wife hates GI Joe...

Me, I love it. So Snake Eyes is not following the traditional story; but it does broaden and widen the world of GI Joe in a very new way if you're interested and willing to open your mind to storytelling. Traditional Joe fans will appreciate homages and references to source ARAH/ Hamaverse, while an outsider (like wifey) can experience how dynamic GI Joe's universe actually is with some fresher and different dynamics to our characters. (SPOILERS) Scarlett comes off very stiff. Baroness is fun. Storm Shadow is true to the character and Snake Eyes is the best. Shouts to Sen, Aikiko, BM and HM who supported the staring characters super well.
