5.0 out of 5 stars Step up from an already lofty position
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on October 7, 2021
-- Updated review based on a few days of ownership ---

My quick (not so quick) review of my Liberty 3 Pro earbuds, i did have initial concerns regarding the fit but i explain how that changed.

Any concerns on the fit are fading – they aren’t moving – they’re just smaller and therefore not contacting with the ear so much and just with the fin so they don’t feel as present as the 2’s do.
When you take them off they just easily pop out and that was giving me this false sense that they weren’t in so well. But overall it’s an improvement on the 2’s … the pressure on the ear is lowered and therefore i can happily listen for several hours without getting any discomfort or fatigue and even in my odd ears (i cannot use any normal IEM’s without them falling out in 10s) i can use a combination of the smallest tips and largest fins and they feel great. I did switch the tips out in the end for a set of Feaulle H370 Latex tips simply because they offer a slight improvement for me in fit but had i not got these tips anyway i would have been perfectly happy to use the included ones.
The included ear tips “snap” onto the steps rather than just slide on … they have a firm plastic core which is secure and there’s pretty much zero chance of the tips falling off the stems.

I think for the same asking price as the 2’s (£15 cheaper for me) they’re a real no brainer. The HearID ANC is perfect for casual listening – it’s not as strong as some brands’ is but it similarly almost disappears and in my office the computer noise and other minor sounds are just knocked back that bit further without feeling like you’re in that heavy ANC territory.

Haven’t yet tried them in a noisy environment with full/heavy ANC enabled yet. But sitting in the same room as someone with the TV on and a fan while i was listening to podcasts was perfect. Almost no noise from the environment bled in. Similarly, these buds offer a great seal and when i was in a quiet room i asked my wife to listen to see if she could hear any bleed from my buds while i had the volume on much louder than i would normally and she couldn’t hear a thing so great for public transport and being in an office where you don’t want to annoy others with your music.

App — The Android app has been twice updated recently with these so they’re picked up straight away — I did have to wait about 3 days following purchase before the firmware was released. However, contacting support via email they did follow up when they said they would and came good on the update and were polite and helpful. So a definite plus for aftersales care.

The HeadID worked the same … the ANC test crashed a couple of times and didn’t compelte … so bugs are present in the app/firmware. This is still present … the ANC test i always have to do 2 times before it completes without fail.

I do find the HearID and EQ options inside the app a little confusing and it seems there’s a couple of ways to achieve the same thing like custom profile for HearID
Click HearID Test > HearID Sound Test then you can personalise (on) then click Advanced > Custom HearID is one way i do it.

I’ve had it erase my EQ profile without warning now twice … so that’s a little irritating … again i don’t know if this is firmware on the buds or the app messing up.

The buttons are all configurable including turning off individually – so you could turn off single-tap to prevent accidents. You can have up to 3 taps although timing takes a little practice

Multi-point is a feature a lot of people wanted but be aware that if you switch these into LDAC the option for multipoint goes dark and you cannot use it… so it’s an “either or” situation. for that if you want the best sound quality

The ear seal tests work and says they’re ok.
The sound quality is generally better … bass is less by default than it was before and a step up i think, it’s cleaner and tighter … lot less boomy and more precise.
Bassheads might find this a step back … i don’t think bass is as hard hitting on the sub-bass as the Liberty 2 Pro+ were.

Case is smaller than previous by a bit … very sleek … has white lights under them so you can find them in the dark
Package is great … 4 sets of tips and fins
Fit and finish is top notch, the brass stems looks solid and the buds feel grat … charge case is a lot smoother and more slippery in the hand than the 2Pro’s case and feels little looser at times.

Sound stage feels wider and a little more easy … ANC on adaptive mode is subtle and absolutely does not give you that locked in pressure. But i feel it isn’t quite fully stable yet (feels like it comes in and out – that could be the adaptive nature but i “feel” something every now and then)

Had a few random disconnections while listening, just feels like the buds are resetting something every 30-40 minutes … just get 2s of silence and then resumption
Am enjoying the fit and sound of these more and more as i listen more.
The fit is lighter pressure than the 2 pro design … the rubber fins are softer and hollow bubbles of rubber rather than a solid curve of rubber so they flex more and cushion
Means they feel not as secure but in a good amount of listening they’ve not once lost their seal.

Range is tremendous — i know LDAC offers less stability than lower codecs due to the higher bitrate. But i had my phone on my desk at the very front of the house and i was stood on our deck at the back of the house (so 3 rooms, a good 12 meters away and 2 stone walls) and i was still getting a signal. So that’s a win considering how tiny the buds are.

Battery life – haven’t run them to depletion yet and after a good 2 or 3 hours listening in LDAC + ANC i’m still showing well more than 1/2 battery so i think on LDAC i’d get maybe 5 or 6 hours and with Non-ANC + AAC probably closer to 8 or more hours. Case is wireless or USB-C charge so modern and convenient.

Listening to (all via Spotify) - as you can see – a various mix of genres
Gorillaz - Dare (for bass)
Marian Herzog - No Sanctuary Here (hearing the background noise and piano keys / seat creaking)
Joep Beving - Sleeping Lotus (lots of ambiance)
Terje Lsungset - Ung (bass/sub-bass)
Dominic Miller - Shape of my Heart
The Prodigy - Climbatize
Trifonic - Ninth Wave (feels nice and open with lots of positional sound and a great amount of bass which doesn’t muddy the track)
Sizzle Bird - Elixir
Ella Mai - Everything
Pantera - Far Beyond Driven (mids tight metal)
Alanis Morissette - Princes Familiar Unplugged
Rage Against the Machine - Take The Power Back (tight drums / bass but feels more airy than many iems until the beat drops)

Final points / pro’s & Con’s

Bugs in the app / firmware – small issue with the EQ settings getting reset and also the sound cutting out – but i know these can be fixed in firmware and it’s not too bad a problem now LDAC has been fixed

Pro’s
Definitely stronger than 2Pro’s in sound - wider, cleaner, more precise and less muddy.
Fit and finish is top notch and worthy of top-tier buds
Price! 1/2 the price of Sony XM4 - no brainer really
App - Plenty of flexibility / options / control

Con’s
Minor bugs remain
Bass for some might not be as hard-hitting as 2Pro’s
Slippery case
Multi-point pairing only accessible outside of LDAC mode

5.0 out of 5 stars Der absolute KING!
Reviewed in Germany on October 8, 2021
- Qi Laden, USB-C, kleines Case, Ldac, alles was man sich wünschst. Danke Soundcore!

Ach und schick sehen sie auch aus. Habe die schwarzen.

Ich bin echt begeistert!

5.0 out of 5 stars The best sounding bluetooth kit I have used
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on October 27, 2021
Headphones and earphones are a very subjective piece of kit.
What one person thinks is great, another may hate, simply because we all hear slightly differently.

An example is the Bowers & Wilkins PX7 headphones.
Loads of really positive reviews, yet I bought them and returned them within 24 hours because I thought they sounded awful!

It was after returning those and wondering what I can get instead, that I came across these.

Now, I have said it before, I am a big fan of Anker stuff. It is well made, well priced and their customer service is about the best I have experienced.

So. at the point of writing this (October 2021) these have only just been released. This means I am a bit of a guinea pig, but also trying to write a balanced review for prospective buyers.

NB. I purchased these myself so this review is going to be honest.
I will also update once I have used them a little longer.

The box they arrived in is quite striking and is aimed to have you feel you have purchased a premium product. It is solid and weighty. You know the contents will be safe.

There is lots of stuff about them being endorsed by something like 20 Grammy award winning producers. You know, the sort of marketing hype that is so common nowadays.

When I opened the box even this old cynic was impressed!
On the left is a set of diagrams on how to get the best fit in your ear (more on that in a moment).
In the middle are multiple sizes of the silicone buds that go in your ear, and the buds that sit on your outer ear.
On the right are the ear buds (I think of them in old fashioned terms as In Ear Monitors - IEM's) and the carrying/charging case they will sit in when not in your ear.
Clearly a lot of thought has gone into the presentation and it works.

Now the guide on the left had me puzzled at first. I know how to put these things in I thought. Then I realised there are 2 parts to the way they sit in your ear.
The problem with in ear monitors is keeping the damn things in your ear so they work to their best!

Here they have designed them so the part that sits on the outer part of your ear has a silicone sleeve to help keep things in place. Then a second silicone sleeve is used for the bit that goes in your ear.
They come in 3 sizes, small, medium and large for both bits.
You could, in theory have small and medium in 1 ear and both medium in the other ear.

In practice I found the medium size to work perfectly for me.
They are comfortable with an excellent seal and I have not had them come loose in a few gym sessions since purchase.
Also there has been no sweating issues or that feeling of pressure in my ears.
So top marks for fit and seal.

Now, before I get on to the sound, I have to talk about the app...
The Soundcore app should be the benchmark for others to be measured against. It is that good!

So many features, but you don't have to use them.
If you wish, you can just pair them via bluetooth (simple and pretty much instant after the first time) and listen as you would normally.

But, if you do go into the app - and I strongly recommend you do - you have a range of options.
There are a multitude of EQ settings, options on noise cancelling and a couple of new ones on me.
As things are new there will be regular updates. That is not to say they it is unstable at all. It has worked perfectly for me.

HearID is where a range of frequencies are played to your ears at a very low level - so you need to run this test in a very quiet environment - to identify how you hear.
Once complete it creates a custom EQ setting for your hearing.
It actually works too!

There is also the same test run for getting the best out of the ANC (Active Noise Cancelling). In that one you want to be in a noisy environment - I used the gym.

Now, how do these things sound then?

Absolutely fantastic, to my ears anyway.
Strong bass and really clear mids and highs. In short a wonderfully rounded sound that actually makes me smile!
It will show up lower quality recordings, they simply won't sound as lively as a really good track.
An example is Chocolate by Snow Patrol on Amazon Music. That sounds gorgeous with real depth and clarity.
Switch to Street Spirit by Radiohead and it lacks the same level of depth - still sounds good though.

The noise cancelling really surprised me. I put them into my ears at the gym and before I had even put any music on, the outside noise was almost turned off!
It does not block out everything, but it was a huge difference.

I still have a pair of Shure wired IEM's which were a lot more than these when I bought them a few years ago and I did a comparison.
The Soundcore's just sound better!

Now I have not tried these against the offerings from Sony and Bose but I would be amazed if they sound better.

Gripes? Minor ones.
Some foam tips would have been a nice touch. I love the Comply tips for a perfect seal in the ear.
Placing the IEM's in the charging case can be a little fiddly at first. You have to get into the habit of putting them in a certain way which is counter-intuitive to me.
And that is about it.

For the price, they are astonishing and should be given serious consideration before you spend a lot more on the above choices!

I will update again in a couple of weeks once they have had some more use.

Update 08.11.21.
So, a couple of weeks in now and I continue to be amazed at how good these are.
I have used them extensively in the gym, out running and just walking around.
They have not fallen out, or even felt like they were going to at any point.

I fully charged them when I got them and the case still has 50% remaining with the earbuds at 100%.
Battery life is not a concern.
Did a firmware update last week and no problems at all.

Never had a single connection issue in all the time I have been using them, which is probably in excess of 12 hours so far.

2 friends tried these at the weekend and were blown away by the sound quality. One of them uses Sony's XM4 headphones and the other Airpods. Both are now waiting to see if these get reduced in the Black Friday sales later this month!

Overall these are still hugely impressive and I really don't get the negative reviews citing poor connection/poor fit and especially sound quality!
I should also add I am not using the very latest phone with them either. My personal phone is a Galaxy S9, something over 3 years old now.

If these were not good, I would say it (my Bowers and Wilkin's PX7's review is an example!)
These are probably the best earbuds you can buy when you take into account cost, battery life and sound quality.

3.0 out of 5 stars A lot of hype
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on October 14, 2021
I am a soundcore fan as there buds are usually a reasonable price, fit and connect well and reliably.
Have seen a lot of glowing "reviews" of the new liberty Pro 3's from people who had received 4 different coloured pairs before general release, but I think we are all used to that kind of thing and can take those with a pinch of salt but I was still excited to try these out as the feature set looked very promising.

Sound quality is good...a bit better than my liberty Pro 2s...Great having the LDAC though use does restrict other features and also takes 10secs to when switching to it.
ANC and hearthrough are OK, but not great.
Wear detection is pretty useless unless you take the buds out and hold them very carefully. Put them in a pocket (as I would going into a shop) or brush one of the sensors then they can start playing again...very annoying if listening to a podcast or book. This feature is now turned off.

App is very good though was a bit puzzled when had to set controls for mono play when had already set them for both pairs. Actually could be seen as a good feature as allows more versatility.

Not a fan of touch controls and miss having a button to press (another reason i own so many other soundcore buds).
Good to have smaller case but still, like the liberty Pro 2s, can be a fiddle taking them out and replacing them.
Comfort in the ear is good with a decent selection of tips to try.
Multipoint hasn't worked for me but I know that feature can be a hit or miss in other buds.

Will keep these as sound quality is, for the price point, pretty good but shame the promise if the other features doesn't really hold up, despite the many enthusiastic "reviews" here and on YouTube.

Also, as pic shows, packing was just a thin envelope bag plus delivery wasn't great (yodel, as if I have to say...).

So a feature set that doesn't quite live up to the mega hype loses one star and another star lost for the damaged delivery.
