In real life relationships, women don't side talk or wisecrack or tolerate much of that if they are going to marriage counseling. Nick Hornby, great writer, can't write women. He writes them like they are men. They aren't. In real life you would have the first wise crack and you would get stony silence for ten minutes. I know it's a tv show. But this is not a woman I have ever met. The Mamet-esque dialogue, though clever, always rang false with me.

I really enjoyed this series. Normally, I wouldn't want to watch something about the possible dissolution of a marriage as I generally steer far clear of things I'll find depressing, but ever since IT Crowd, I'll watch anything with Chris O'Dowd in it and I also like Rosamund Pike. This is so well-written, superbly acted and feels like it's about two genuine people with faults but also a lot of heart rather than an amalgamation of 'interesting' quirks as some characters tend to be. I even feel as though there were gems of advice/thought for those of us who are married and find it challenging at times.

....with a pub as the stage. This well written comedy in short play format reminds me of what is missing in most films these days, "good dialogue".

I had never hear of this show and its hilarious!!! I was confused at first but give it a chance! This married couple meets at a bar/ pub every episode (which is 10 minutes) as they exchange hysterical and at times angry banter for 10 minutes before they go to marriage counseling. I won't give anymore details. If you need a good laugh make time to watch it I loved it. The acting is great the chemistry is wonderful. Just watch it.

The acting is superb and the writing is excellent. As I said, it’s much more like theater than film.
The only reason I took away one star is that it always seems up to the woman to do the deeper work in a relationship. Sadly, she comes off as someone who’s always poking the bear, bringing up issues and creating problems.
Definitely worth watching and, overall, really well done.

I kept wanting to meet the therapist, partly because I am a therapist, but watching this couple interact in the pub prior to their counseling sessions was a brilliant set up. Sharp and witty dialogue from Nick Hornby as always. I will watch anything with Chris O'Dowd because he's that good.

I was already a big fan of both Chris O'Dowd and Rosamund Pike so when I saw this was available, I went for it without reading any summary first. So I wasn't quite mentally prepared to start in on something as heavy as possible divorce and marriage counseling, but these two actors are great and the dialog very compelling. I found myself thinking it over quite a bit afterward, unable to predict how it would all turn out. Definitely worth a watch.

So many reasons why this was a good watch - great writing, great sense of humor, great acting and such a simple concept, yet well orchestrated in all the coordinated efforts.
