Recently I have been comparing different brands of caramel corn available through Amazon. Of the brands I have tried so far this one is my least favorite, most of the kernels are fluffy on the surface but are not fully popped and have rock hard kernels in the center. As a result sooner or later someone will crunch down and break a tooth or two.

This can be rectified by very slightly lowering the temperature of the air or oil that the corn is popped in and/or by using fresher popcorn kernels.

Also the caramel has both a burnt flavor and a molasses flavor and bitterness making it less desirable than caramel coatings made with butter/cane-brown sugar corn syrup based caramel coatings that are not overcooked or oil based. The flavor is ok but the hard kernel pieces ultimately make this one unacceptable!

I did not care for this popcorn at all. It is fairly fresh, but has hardly any sweetness to it at all! It is a good price for the quantity you get, but the quality of it is terrible. I was expecting it to taste like Farmer Jons, but it kind of tastes like crackerjack, but with less sugar and no peanuts. This was very disappointing and I will never buy this product again! After contemplating throwing it all out, I decided to make my own caramel sauce to drizzle over it because my mom taught me that it is a sin to waste food. After making caramel for this popcorn I can now say that it is pretty darn good. So glad it wasn't a total waste.

Worst popcorn ever. I didn’t think that was possible for kids who love sweets. But even the popcorn they start with is old and after covering it in caramel....when you eat it, the popcorn texture is awful...taste is missing in the caramel topping.
Very expensive...but DO NOT BUY it.
You can’t return.
You won’t get a refund.
You’ll just throw it out and be very upset...like we were.

The taste is not the best, nor the worst, however where I made an overall 2-star rating is due to an abundance of hardness in the popcorn (or hard little spots encountered as you bite in to the kernel), as if it were not fully popped but visually it appears to be. I'm not sure if it's a freshness issue or a popcorn quality issue, but I don't foresee buying this product again. The taste is average, and I may consider buying it again on that alone but due to the amount of hard kernels encountered, it's a definite no.
