I've given my version of what I think the book should have been entitled, because there is something in it of importance for ANY age group, but certainly flexibility becomes more of an issue as we age.
I've bee into physical culture most of my life. I have competed on a world and national class level in two sports - cycling and running. As an airline pilot, I was required to take an FAA First Class physical every 6 months, and I was not about to lose a great gig like that so I always worked out. I've always stretched, but it was just hit and miss - basically things I witnessed others doing rather than a scientific or targeted approached to doing so.
Now as an old fart of 81, and after years of punishing my body in competitions and workouts, I find that stretching is not just something one should do, but I find that it is mandatory - I engage in it every morning prior to my morning workout which might be something aerobically oriented or weight training.
This book is really the ultimate guide to the all important activity of stretching and I mean for everyone - not just in relation of something to do before or after exercise.
The book is quite unique in that if offers stretching routines for various specific activities. There is no excuse, such as "I travel a lot," or "I spend so much time at my desk." The book even covers stretching routines for those two situations.
The book also has a lot of fitness related fitness information and tips. Bottom line: If you have a body, you need to read and follow this book! Just do it!!
