Firstly, if you're just going to sprinkle this on your cold cereal, you might want to pick a granulated sugar. Now, for *hot* cereal, turbinado sugar is the bomb. In hot cereal, it creates little pockets of melted sugar goodness. This turbinado sugar is hard, little squares. I buy it to make rich simple syrup out of or to make water kefir with — in both cases, the sugar is dissolved in water, so the grain size doesn't matter to me.
Sugar in the raw has the most molasses still in it of all the natural sugars I like. I'm not talking about any analysis or anything, but just going by taste. It has a nice light brown sugar taste. It's not quite as strong as muscavado, but is probably the nearest step down. This makes it super great for water kefir and I quite like it in my sugar syrups too. I use simple syrup or rich simple syrup to make drinks with my SodaStream soda maker.
If you like natural sugars, Sugar in Raw is really the premiere. If you don't like to taste the molasses, you'll want to stick with regular white sugar.

Note that the flavor is a bit different from white sugar; to each their own, but I prefer this much more. It has a tad more of an earthy, rich sweetness to it rather than the lip-smacking sweetness of white sugar. Love it!
The turbinado sugar crystals are much coarser than those of white sugar that has been processed further. During the refining process, the sugars are processed to the point where the nutrients naturally available in the raw foods -- cane and beets -- are lost. So it's a win-win! Tastier and Healthier!
Tastes better than any other I have tried and I have tried MANY.. The small packets make it a no brainier.. Perfect for early am coffee.. well worth a few extra pennies.
Easy,fast, no measuring,no guesswork.Done, boom..get on with your morning/ life. ;-)
The sugar in the raw sugar packet is a minimally processed granular sugar that retains its molasses, giving it a perceivable but very light brown sugar flavor. In this packet form, sugar in the raw is rationed in a one teaspoon serving which is enough for the common 6oz. servings of coffee or tea and suited for a variety of situations from the employee breakroom to the high-end non-franchise fast food place. Since you most likely work in requisitions, please consider that these packets will be enough for 200 6oz. servings or 100 servings over 10oz. of coffee so plan as you will for something that will be used daily or for one large event
I went for the single-serving packets primarily for the compulsory rationing. It has been my personal experience that leaving out sugar bowls and spoons just invites pests and messes that SOMEONE will have to deal with and most likely it will be me. At least with packets, the messes and spills are kept small, and hopefully manageable by the person who caused them. With that in mind, are you confident about the general character of the people you are buying this for? Regardless, sugar in the raw packets is just what you need for the hygienic distribution of breakfast amenities.
