5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing.
By Ryan on February 12, 2019
This is literally exactly what I was looking for, but better! I wanted something that would automatically press the button to unlock the downstairs door from my phone (so that I wouldn't have to sprint like a madman to the other end of the house to hit it) and this does the trick exactly. Not only can I buzz open the downstairs door from inside, but ALSO from outside, eliminating the need to mess with keys. This device is genius. Pure genius.

5.0 out of 5 stars Works great for devices that are not "smart" yet.
By Clay K. Holder on July 25, 2019
I have a Power Pet electronic dog door that allows you to turn on and off the inside and outside sensors via push button. This has been a problem for me because I work evening shift and my beagle will be outside howling at, well anything, late at night before I can get home to keep her in the house. With the SwitchBot I can remotely turn off the inside sensor via a schedule I have setup on the SwitchBot app, and then the next time she comes in she can't go back outside. This has been a great comfort to me and my neighbors. The picture shows four of them on the panel. I also have one to control the outside sensor so that I can keep her out. The other two control a single function to keep the door open all of the time. To do that you have to hold the power button and then push the door open button. I was able to put a 10 second switch hold on the power button so that it keeps the button pressed while the SwitchBot on the door open button operates. I have a security camera pointed at the dog door so that I can verify via the LED lights, that I have the sensors on the correct setting since there is no way to tell if they are on or off, not the fault of SwitchBot. The only minor problem I had with one of the buttons is that it requires a bit of a soft touch, and SwitchBot was pushing too hard for it to work. To solve this I took the extra adhesive pad that was included and doubled them up so it stood the SwitchBot off a bit more from the panel. I then got some of those soft rubber buttons with adhesive on one side that you use on the inside of cabinet doors to keep them from banging, and put one of those on the button. That worked nicely.

5.0 out of 5 stars Works good for automating my AC units
By Isaac G. on April 10, 2019
Work's quite well for automating my AC units. The adhesive is very strong and stuck well.

I'm even able to trigger it from my computer running Linux, although after setting a password on the SwitchBot, it was quite difficult to get that working again (it involved Bluetooth packet capturing on my phone and then searching through the logs in Wireshark). Not an issue most people will run into though.

5.0 out of 5 stars Works like a charm
By Kevin M. on January 6, 2019
This is a great invention to automate and schedule things with a physical switch and that can’t be controlled by a smart plug. It’s a little finicky and a bit more bulky than ideal, but I personally don’t know how it could be designed much better given the constraints of the battery size that lasts around 2 years they say and what this thing does.

Put it on our coffee maker and it works perfectly. The 3M sticky pad worked to be stuck and readjusted multiple times which was nice (didn’t know if it was a one and done type adhesice but seems like you can readjust and get multiple uses, plus it comes with a second. It uses low voltage Bluetooth which I was surprised I could easily connect to and use anywhere throughout our house (30-40 ft away). Also, if you set a schedule for the switch, that’s stored in the switch and the Bluetooth device doesn’t need to be around for the switch to automatically be triggered. Since the Bluetooth connection worked well for me, didn’t need the WiFi hub, but I believe you need this if you want to connect to Alex or IFTTT.

The app isnt the most beautiful and intuitive one I’ve seen, but it does the job and seems to be stable, so I’m not going to complain too much. Good product given the niche need and would definitely recommend to others.

張り付けるだけのお手軽設置なのに満足度高いです

あとガレージの電動シャッターのスイッチにも取り付けました

4.0 out of 5 stars Finally got it working on a UK fused spur switch (harder to press) using the power of Physics
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on July 24, 2020
Update 06/08/2020: My makeshift tilted pad underneath the switchbot did not last, so I 3d printed a proper one, and fixed it back on with Mammoth Tape double sided adhesive. Now it works better than ever, and very solidly. See updated photo. If you need the 3d printed design, comment on this review, and I'll find a way to share.

I got this working on a UK fused spur switch, which is harder to press, when other reviews were not looking as promising. Read on to find out.

I actually found that the pull action was fine, its able to pull the switch up, just not press it.

Initially I was not holding out much hope, as there were a few reviews that said the SwitchBot was not strong enough to press a fused spur switch, which for some reason requires more force to press. So I thought back to high school physics days, and remembered that if the distance from the pivot point is increased, less force is required.

So I moved the little pad with the hook loop on it more over the edge of the switch (see photo), so that the SwitchBot could press it on a now longer edge. (Basically you want to increase the distance between the centre of the switch, and the point where the SwitchBot presses it down.

Now, the thing to remember here is that if you extend the edge of the switch, then that means when the switch is pressed down, theres actually no room for the extended edge to go, as it should technically be going through the housing of the switch case (ok this might not make sense, but think of it as the switch normally being flush with the housing when you press it down, so adding something to the end, well it shouldnt work. But luckily the pad with the 3m tape and the switch together seemed to flex a bit, so it still worked for me.

Long story short, basically: Be warned, if you extend the pad over the edge of the switch, the switch might not completely press down, which might be a problem, as it could mean the switch is stuck between on and off, or cause a short or a spark etc.

In future, I might improve this by 3d printing something to go between the surface of the switch and the hook/loop pad for the SwitchBot, which can extend the length of the switch from the pivot whilst also curving up so that the housing for the switch does not get in the way.

Given the issues with the lack of space for the extended pad to click properly, do this at your own risk, theres still not a good solution. But I'm happy to answer any questions in the comments on this review if anyone needs more info.

C'est donc soir ON, soit OFF.
