Yay! Marathon Tarzan time!

Come, come now. It's not that bad. I remember watching the show in my younger days and I enjoyed it immensely. Sure, the writing was not that great and Lydie got on my nerves sometimes, but the show was clean and had a good message. I thought Wolf did a pretty good job with the part and brought an air of innocence and singlemindedness to the character. I think he grew into the part and became more comfortable with it, as Gordon Scott did in his Paramount Tarzan movies, and I actually felt he was a more believable Tarzan than Ron Ely. Nice to see a long haired, buff actor in the part too. If you're the king of the jungle, you need to look the part. Us old timers still enjoy corny shows like the Lone Ranger, etc. If you want gory vintage Rice Burroughs you're going to have to get it at the movies. I hope Amazon will make this series available for sale so I can watch it over and over when regular tv sucks (which is most of the time).

The one issue I have with the show is the use of non-indigenous animals. They obviously thought viewers were not savvy to what countries the various species came from. I guess they used whatever was available in Mexico.

Fine for those not having a love for the original stories and characters in the Edgar Rice Burroughs books.

For anyone that didn't read the real Edgar Rice Burroughs Tarzan books this series may be fun. Especially for children ; but I could see adults liking it too. It is decently made. The scenery is beautiful . And the acting is decent. The stories are fine.
But I have read and re read the original books . The characters and the stories in this tv series are So Different and modernized from those books that I just could not accept these as Tarzan stories. The original stories were set in the late 1800's early 1900's and it was a vastly different time. The books transport you back to those times.
This tv series tries to take the characters and bring them into our times.
I just could not stomach this.

Tarzan the series, Seriously Flawed.

Definitely the slang term B movie. Shoddy acting performances, pauses on actors we're so long you forget what was said. It felt as though after they said their lines you were waiting for them to look into the camera pose and smile like a cartoon character. I fell asleep woke up and the series was still running and I thought I can't take anymore of this. So glad I didn't pay for this I would definitely ask for my money back.

I absolutely love this series
Verified purchase
I absolutely love this series. I am a real Tarzan freak, it doesn't matter what vintage from the oldest to the latest. This series I like because it appeals to the viewer in many different ways. The human characters are visually different, attractive and interesting. The stories are well thought out and some of the stunts are amazing. And of course for me(a professional animal trainer) the animals have to be excellent in beauty, character and obedience. This series does not disappoint you in that area, the animals are wonderful! My final comment is that "The Good Guys Always Win"!!! [[ASIN:B0711SYGFD Tarzan]]Which is how every Tarzan adventure should end.

Fell out of his tree...
Verified purchase
I really wanted to like this. I have been a Tarzan fan for over sixty years. The Tarzan of Edgar Rice Burroughs doesn't live in a tree house. He hunts his food and eats raw meat. He is impossible, but interesting. This Tarzan is impossible and so PC and trendy as to be nauseating.
The Herman Brix Tarzan was pretty good. The Johnny Weissmuller Tarzan had to be dumbed down to fit Weissmuller's very limited acting skills.
And over the years, Tarzan, who financed a whole industry and a town near Hollywood, has gone up and down in quality. This version is a new low, with bad writing, bad acting, and make the lion a vegetarian, because we don't want to scare the kiddies.
