Guys, honestly, the best way to tell if your product really works or not is the baking soda & vinegar test. These are the only two elements that are definitely either acidic or alkaline. Drinks can go so many directions and even if the bottle tells you it's alkaline (as mine did), sometimes they are lying. Vinegar is obviously acidic and baking soda is obviously alkaline.
Steps: 1st take a small cup, place about 3-tablespoons of water, and mix with a teaspoon of baking soda. You increase the amount of baking soda you want. make sure the water is distilled, spring water or simple tap water as these tend to be rather neutral pH. Make sure to mix the mixture thoroughly with a spoon.
Then take another cup and pour 1 tablespoon of apple cider vinegar, or white vinegar or you can squeeze a quarter lemon.
Take one pH strip and dip in the baking soda mixture for 2-seconds. Take another pH strip and dip into the vinegar solution for 2-seconds. You should see marked differences in the pH colors. One should turn close to a dark blue/purple. The other should turn very orange/yellow. That will indicate that the strips do indeed work.
The reason I gave this product a 2/5 is because although it does show the extreme differences in pH measurements, it's very difficult in picking up minute differences in pH, and some of the colors look very similar to one another, and then other times, you might get a color stretch, where the bottom color looks very acidic, while the top color looks very alkaline, and there's nothing on the color chart that matches it. This is why I'm returning it and purchasing a meter.
So, if you need to test your bodily fluids, these are the correct strips to buy. If you are planning on testing anything else, don't- they won't work correctly

Easy enough to use provided you adhere to the instructions. I only had a couple of failures, and that may have been due to misuse of the product. It is a little bit tricky to extract a single strip from the container without touching the test tabs and to not end up using two stuck together because they are so very thin. I also occasionally had difficulty in being able to find a close match between the pair of reference colours on the box, or container, with those on the completed test strip. But that may be because of my aging eyesight! However, the instructions do suggest using the end colour tab as the main guide and that it take precedence over the colour matching of the second test tab on the plastic strip. Armed with that information I have been able to get some approximate pH values and average them for multiple tests taken over a couple of weeks. This has confirmed my suspicions and I will be presenting the results to my GP at my next review and I expect this to lead to a proper medical pH test. I will endeavour to provide an update if there are any developments related to the test strip accuracy.
So, overall I am quite pleased with the purchase and will not hesitate to obtain some again should the necessity arise.
