Had a hard time finding a gate that would keep our hyper/ curious / smart puppy from going through the slats that he wouldn't tear up (we were worried since he does bite the window seal (my husband fixed this with putting pepper :( - he doesn't chew window sill anymore. Anyway...This gate does not have a self shutting feature BUT because of that - there is less hardware to have issues with (we have another self closing and the door sometimes "dislocates" out of frame). This gate is easy for a 10 year old and up to use (and me - for the mechanically challenged/ ADD type - that would usually forget to close the gate). The wood look is perfect - doesn't seem like a prison gate - like most. This is a great brand. I would buy another if I needed it. Easy to install with one person - even for me :). I did have to buy an extension for my wider entry but still worth the cost.
Suggestion for company: Lower the cost of the extension or include a version that had 2 extra in the packaging. I would pay a bit more for a version that fit larger door openings. A bit cumbersome to buy extension separately. It doesn't hurt to ask :)

It seems sturdy enough for a big strong dog. My 4.5lb Chihuahua puppy can not get through the bars. I was worried about that. She is 4 months old.
