Meet the Boys

Billy Butcher

A former C.I.A. operative turned vigilante, Billy Butcher is as charming as he is cunning. But this personal vendetta is driven by his hatred for one Supe in particular: Homelander. Butcher’s determined to get revenge on Homelander, no matter the cost. And he won’t let anyone or anything stand in his way.

Though the basement offers a temporary safe haven, it’s full of cockroaches – and tension. Frenchie’s at the top of every Supe’s hit list – and try as he might, he still can’t communicate with the one person he believes understands him the most: Kimiko. And he can’t invent his way out of everything – especially his troubled past.

The Female

On the surface, it looks like Kimiko’s found her niche within the Boys – she’s their face-tearing, eye-gouging, bone-crunching muscle. But there are other sides of this silent killer we’ve never seen. Her search for family, truth and self-expression reveals to the Boys that she’s more than just a super-powerful weapon to be activated at their whim. She’ll need to use every ounce of her new-found maturity and growth as she deals with personal tragedy and takes on a stronger and more dangerous enemy than ever before.

All he wanted was to stand up to Vought and avenge his father’s tragic ending, but his decision to trust Butcher quickly proved foolish – now his wife and daughter are in witness protection while he’s holed up in a grimy basement. Sooner or later, MM faces a choice – keep fighting, or give up forever and go back to his family – but can he really let the fight go?

Not only can he fly, he’s got superstrength and superhearing, and he can see through almost anything with his X-ray vision and then destroy it with his laser eyes. On the surface, he’s affable, modest, and sincere; the ultimate Boy Scout, an all-American, God-fearing patriot. But just like mere mortals, even superheroes have secrets.

Annie January is as down-to-earth and sincere as they come; the girl next door with superpowers. And as Starlight, “The Defender of Des Moines,” all she’s ever wanted to do is save the world – and while a lot of people say that as a corny catchphrase, she actually means it. So when she’s selected to join The Seven, it’s every dream she’s ever had come true. But that dream becomes her worst nightmare when this fresh-faced Midwesterner arrives in New York, and learns that the old adage is true: never meet your heroes.

Terrific season, better than season-1, and comes with a very cathartic season finale.
The new supe in season-2 is so deplorable that you will wish for simpler times when Homelander would let a plane full of innocents die or A-Train casually squashes a bystander. The main reason we all love The Boys more than other superhero shows/movies is its blending of complex issues with skull crushes and blood splatters. In this season, we get multiple layers of complexities and a load of gore. The latter makes this show unsuitable for kids and the former makes it suitable only for the mature audience.

Large corrupt private corporations are bad, but their powers are very limited. A morally corrupt government and bureaucrats, on the other hand, can cause massive damage to society. That's where, I think, the series will go next. I am pumped up for all the new devilries the writers will throw at us in the next season.

PS: One star for the weekly release. I had it changed to 5 at the end of the season. But now back to one because they are making it a habit (even Expanse is now weekly).

I'm enjoying it!
The fit everyone's throwing because they can't binge makes no sense. At least not if they like the show and want it to continue. Let the "greedy bastards" make their money and they'll make a third and fourth season because it's profitable. That's the silver lining. In the meantime, enjoy the hype and discussions that are going to crop up with every new bath of episodes and shut the h*ll up. Don't tank the rating because you're too impatient to wait. Stars are meant to represent the quality of the show, not your spoiled opinions about wanting it all now.

-

Now, it did take me awhile to rediscover that feeling from the first season but I found it right at the end of the third episode. My one complaint would be the opening for season two didn't pop as much as the first with the explosion of our main guy's girl. I definitely think it could've been more exciting. I'm not going to leave a very in depth review because like I said I'm only now really vibing with the story. But the episodes were still solid and they got there eventually. I really hope the rest keeps the spirit of the first!

Good show, really bad decisions.
The new episodes are really good, even the product placement was good since it's used as a self-aware joke (just because something is self-aware that does NOT make it funny or okay, but they way they do it is very subtle and pretty funny). The only problem with the new season is it's not a full season, the best part about these kind of shows is binging, we don't like in the late 20th century anymore so binging on a streaming service is just a scummy way to get people to keep their subscription. The worst part is how it was done, I have to wait until October to watch the full thing, OCTOBER! If it wasn't for me using Prime for other things I could just end the subscription and start it again when all the episodes come out. Not only is it scummy, but it doesn't work. So I'm giving it one star, it's a good show, but this is just inexcusable.

Love what they're doing with discount Aquaman, didn't have enough Fresca though.

Stop with the sjws stuff
I just read a interview where they are making disparaging comments about the president and how their feelings about him will be reflected in the show. I dont watch fantasy for political opinions. You definitely lost a viewer.

I loved season 1 and it really is like how Watchmen should have been. It showed how even the best of us isn't perfect. and most importantly, it is a lot of fun to watch.
