Stereotypical portrayal of my people's historical legacy in this country.
It is time for new imaginings of the Black experience - this feels like a remake of many prior movies and miniseries about the underground railroad and furthers the misbelief that African Americans' history begins and ends with slavery. Yes, it is a part of the story - but it is not the only story.

Was disappointed
While I was waiting a while for this to air, I was a bit disappointed. Maybe my expectations were off. I thought it would be more of a Harriett Tubman vibe, but it was just mainly more trauma porn that I am pretty much tired of. But that's just me. Still give it a try and form your own opinion. On the bright side, I loved the actors! So props to them.

Read the book before you criticize the film
I have only watched the first episode thus far but It captures the essence of Colson Whitehead's multi award-winning book. The book got the Pulitzer Prize for fiction. It is not a historical narrative. It is a surrealistic exploration of the emotional, physical and financial toll the evil institution took on not only those enslaved, but the enslavers as well. It is a commentary on society in the U.S. past and present.

More anti-white rising.
Yeah very boring and little to no historical accuracy.

Heartfelt but Poor Accuracy
I love having more Black stories. This show tells shocking stories of horrible treatment of slaves, which deserve to be told. However, the inaccuracies pull me out of the show. For example, the underground railroad is a literal underground railroad. Furthermore, all the "saviors" in the story are white, when in reality free Blacks took most of the risks (and mostly in the North). I find myself wondering what else isn't accurate when I really want to be immersed in the world. The cinematography is beautiful, but portions are too dark to see what's happening. Perhaps that's for the best because a lot of emotional/spiritual/physical darkness take place during these scenes.

Fascinating!
Wow! This mini series did not disappoint. Absolutely wonderful acting and scenery. I couldn't stop watching until it was finished. Rivoting, edge of your seat drama. Wow!

Waste Of Time
The writing was droll and the acting was not very good. Didn't break any new ground as far as the subject goes. I watched the first episode but I won't be watching any more.
