Incredible that you have to pay $11.99 extra to read on kindle paperwhite!

Turns out that the kindle paperwhite subscription only works on that device. So, if you purchase a subscription online, or on an iPhone or iPad or Kindle Fire tablet, you can read the content on all of them for one monthly fee. But if you have a kindle paperwhite, you have to pay an additional $11.99 per month. On top of that, you don't get all of the content.

I lived in the Washington DC area for 30+ years and the Washington Post was a big part of my life. I have no problem with the WP Kindle version. I would have given it a higher rating for the content. My issue was that it could be downloaded only to my phone. Ever read a "meaty" newspaper on a phone? It's an arduous task. When I subscribed I thought it would download to my Kindle for PC so I could read it on my Microsoft Surface Pro. I would suggest that it be made available for Kindle PC. I would sign up again in a heartbeat!

I absolutely love The Washington Post although I wish it were a bit cheaper. However, I trust this paper to give me accurate, factual news I can rely on. The articles are collectively depressing by the end of the week, but I attribute that to the dysfunctional climate in Washington. Thank you editors, reporters, and the entire staff of the paper for all you do.
Democracy WILL die in darkness so I'm glad you provide the light.

What I enjoy most about receiving the Washington Post for Kindle is that I can "read the paper" at breakfast while MSNBC is interviewing the reporters whose articles are appearing in the Post that morning.. I often find the Post too large for the time I have to devote to reading it. I've been neglecting my personal rreading because it takes me so long to get through all the wonederful articles in the Post. I'd like it to be "audible."

After the two week trial period I will be canceling my Kindle subscription to the Post. It is true that some content that is in the print edition does not appear in the Kindle version--I'm ok with that and I think it is to be expected to a degree--remember, you don't have to deal with any ads. Rather, my objection is very specific in scope: editorials and op-ed pieces appear on the Kindle version about one day later than the physical paper, with many op-ed columns never appearing. I suspect in the case of the op-eds that this is a function of some sort of publishing rights issue. Regardless, as a regular reader of the Post I just find this fact to be a deal breaker. In this age of instant updates the world over, one of the advantages to a traditional newspaper is its commentary and analysis content, the one realm of journalism least affected by the digital age. To take that away diminishes the value of the product for me. Also, seems to me there should be some way to link the paper's on-line content with your Kindle subscription, but you can't do that. The Post has a pay-wall on their website and I feel that Kindle subscribers should be able to bypass that.

I'm three hours from Washington and every morning The Post is on my Kindle. I don't have to worry about snow or a bad storm not letting the delivery truck get over the Bay Bridge to deliver the paper to S. Delaware. I'm not using up trees and filling land fills. And the best part is I can get the LA Times, Herald Tribune, NY Times or the SF Chronicle the same way. It's a $1.50 in the Paper Vending box or the local Giant for the daily. I think it averages out to $0.40 a day on the Kindle

I've done this for a long time. I love it because I get the Washington Post delivered to my kindle with wireless no matter where I am. Great not getting the paper version. Great not having adds. Great having the articles as one item rather than have to go to page B-6 to read the rest of it and them get back. Negatives are no comics, photos are limited and black and white, sometimes the captions are screwed up on photos, and occasional text problems. All in all, I've thought hard about quitting and going to WaPO directly but the pluses outweigh the negatives. I'ld recommend it to a friend.
