When I am old and near death I suspect I will think of the time I watched "Unhinged" and wonder what happened that October day in 2020. I'll retrace my steps and relive that moment when I thought, "Russell Crowe was awesome in Gladiator so I'm sure he'll be spectacular in a move about road rage. And while yes, it's $20 for an advance preview, this is the price one must pay for the artistry of Russell Crowe."
"Unhinged" is a drama but it's also a comedy with nudist camp film overtones. Once you get a feel for the cadence, you can actually predict the dialog with startling accuracy. You know how sometimes actors are so good you forget you're watching a movie? Well that doesn't happen here. And you know the sadness you sometimes experience when a character dies? Pure, unmitigated joy in this movie.
All I can do is spend the rest of my days warning others. Do not pay to watch "Unhinged." Do not watch "Unhinged" if someone pays you. Canceling your Amazon account to eliminate the possibility that you might watch it is not an overreaction.
You've been warned, I must move on to the others.
