I'm pleased with the picture quality of this TV, and I love the smart TV functions. Netflix is just a touch of a button, and I felt free to give my ROKU to my husband for his not-smart TV. I was hoping for a bit more chance at selecting apps that I wanted to use- it's not nearly the range that ROKU has, but all the main ones were present. CrunchyRoll was the one that I was hoping to see, and Cinema Now, but they are not listed as being available. Amazon Prime, Netflix, Vudu, Fandango and several more were though - ALL the main ones. I do have an Android box I can use to get Crunchyroll, it has several HDMI ports to connect any sort of console to, either Android or gaming.
Set up was easy. I used a wired connection on mine- it comes with both an Ethernet port AND wireless capability. The remote came with batteries, and that's needed once the TV is in place and turned on. The remote is very easy to use and intuitive. I'm using Comcast, and it had an inlet for the cable, and it scanned and found all channels easily.
The sound quality is what I did not expect to be as good. I thought surely I'd have to plug it up to a sound system to get good quality sound, but it's really fine just the way it is.
It comes with legs if you want to stand it on something, but I also bought this mount: Mounting Dream MD2268-LK Tilting Mount for 42-Inch to 70-Inch Samsung, Sony, Vizio, LG, Sharp TVs with VESA 600x400mm, Black which it fits just fine. My husband was able to install it by himself, it was heavy but it wasn't so heavy he needed help. Stronger men will be able to lift the 50" with no problems.
The only problem/issue I've had was that at first I could not figure out how to get to the APPs other than the ones with buttons on the remote. There is a user manual that I was able to access from the TV and that information was in it - the remote has a button with 2 pretty big sillver DOWN looking arrows, that's what you press to get to the apps. The only app that it had, that did not seem to work, was TWITTER.
It pays to spend some time exploring the remote. Menus let you change the lighting and other setting. For instance, you can run regular lighting, vivid, callibrated, ect.
Update 5/12/2016 Figured out that firmware updates are automatic, but the TV has to be powered OFF for them to install. Cinema Now IS scheduled to be included in an update. As best I can tell, my system is a update behind. I'm trying to force one by going to system, and then system check, and leaving the TV off for a while. My TV has been on almost constantly- I'll update again as/ when my firmware update is applied.
Update 6/8/2014 Still no CinemaNow, but Fandango and Vudu are available.
The applications on this Tv are perfect for us and we even joined a few that they offer such as Hulu. Some of the apps that we enjoy are Amazon Prime Video, Netflix, Hulu, and YouTube. I love that I get to watch all my favorite YouTube videos in the comfort of my own bedroom. Another nice feature is if I start watching a video or a movie in the living room, I can finish it in the bedroom later when the kids go to bed. The second TV we purchased was set up in our guest room since we have many friends and family that come and vacation with us. It is nice to have this TV for our guests, makes them feel right at home.
Installing the Tv is very easy to do. When you first start your Tv a setup menu will walk you through the installation process and you can choose your preferences. Since this is a Smart Tv, you will be able to use all the apps through Wi-Fi, having high speed internet will help the movies stream faster without timing out. I would recommend getting a high-speed internet plan because we did have problems connecting and once we upgraded, not a single problem after that. Hooking cable to the Smart Tv is the same as any other tv, in our living room we have cable connected to our large smart tv. We then have the option of watching cable or using our Wi-Fi to watch Netflix instead of HBO on cable. The other thing we did was purchase an antenna for our bedroom and hooked it up to this Smart Tv so that we could get local channels.
Since this Tv is so light, it is also very portable. You can very easily move it from room to room if you wanted too. And because of its light weight it is easy to find a spot for it. In our bedroom, we installed an acrylic shelf and put the Tv on top of it. It looks great and has held up well on the shelf.

I dropped a star only because the speakers could be better. I know this is a common problem with all modern TV's. I plugged in a nice set of computer speakers with a large sub using a Y cable and the two white/yellow audio ports and it is an awesome set up now, well worth the price. I had heard the TV speakers drop out a few times and I am very grateful to already have peripheral speakers available. I turned off the TV speakers and I'm good now. I guess VIZIO expects you to do this when one buys a 43' TV, and doesn't spend a lot of resources on the internal speakers, but still... NOT COOL - YOU LOSE ONE STAR!
The "smart" component of the TV is not amazing, but it works. If you want to have superior functions, I would recommend to get an Apple TV (or the equivalent). Sometimes, the Netflix app is not the sharpest (or any of the other apps, to be honest), but it works, if getting an Apple TV is not on your priorities list.
Let's talk about the sound now... You'll HAVE to get a sound bar or a sound system of any kind, because a flat-screen will never give you the sound projection you'll desire.
Anyway, highly recommend this product, if you don't want to spend a ton of money on your TV and still get amazing image :)
"Smart" part of the TV barely ever works. It either just simply doesn't work and you can't use Netflix or the other apps OR Netflix will be working then constantly cutting out, over and over again. It is not something wrong with the internet, our other (non Smart) TV has a Roku and works perfectly.
I am really disappointed in the Smart TV aspect.
I just had to go out and buy a Roku today. That sucked, since I specifically bought this TV for its Smart TV functionality.
The colour is good and size is good and shipping was fast. But it is not a Smart TV if the thing stopped working within a couple weeks of purchase.
The selection of apps is decent. They don't have Crunchyroll in US mode.
sometimes the tv will randomly turn itself on, and I am not sure why. Disconnecting it from wifi did stop this issue, but then it also took away a lot of functionality. Other than big brother tapping into your tv and listening to your conversations, tv is good.
