A lot of people that have dogs have told me "No, that doesn't work, once they have tartar the vet has to remove it, you cannot remove it at home". Well, I am hard headed and decided to buy this toothpaste. I purchased the toothpaste back in October 2020 and quickly I started rubbing toothpaste on my dog's teeth everyday, not really cleaning then, just using my finger and rubbing the gel on each tooth that had heavy tartar, including the ones in the back (molars) that are hard to reach because my dogs are kinda small, so the smaller the mouth, the harder it is to clean them.
About 2 months ago I purchased 10 finger brushes (ASIN B07NYB6DND) and I started performing a better cleaning. Yesterday 02/13/2021 I noticed a little gap between the gum and the tartar and I happened to get my nail in between and without a lot of pressure I pushed down and the tartar came off. I decided to do the same with the molars and the tartar also came off. I then continued to my other dog (the female), did the same thing, and I was able to also remove the tartar all around. I was very happy, cause I did not think the time I have spent rubbing toothpaste everyday will pay off. I do not have to spend over $500, because now their teeth are clean, I just have to maintain them now :0)
The toothpaste does work, but it will not remove the tartar in a week, or two weeks, probably not in a month, it might take 4 to 5 months, and it does take time and patience.
Hope this review helps you
Thanks

Terrible. Going in the bin

I have 2 chiuahuahs, both are now 7 years old. Like most small breeds, they are notorious for having bad teeth, mine were no exception. We didn't really brush as much as we should have, and it showed. The tartar build up was getting bad on their teeth. Ranging from stained yellow, to green and then darker brown plaque. We decided to smarten up, and be more pro-active with brushing.
I really wish I took pictures now, because after just a few weeks, the plaque started falling off. Its been about 2 months now, and I swear you would never have guessed that these dogs used to have some vile looking teeth. The plaque is virtually gone, and now all that's left is some yellow stain that will most likely be gone in another month or so. I cant believe how well this product worked for us.
TLDR
- Absolutely works, even on hard plaque
- I find it doesn't freshen their breath, but i really dont care as long as it works
- Their breath is naturally better, since the plaque and gingivitis is diminishing
- Natural products. My pups both have sensitive stomachs, and this doesn't bother them at all. Even though other toothpaste has in the past.
- will definitely recommend and buy again

Doggy Toothpaste tends to be difficult to dispense as the dogs are too busy licking it off as you are trying to brush and also the toothpast is a little more runny.
This Dental Gel is a bit easier to use. I applied it with a doggy toothbrush, but it can also be applied on cotton wool, a finger toothbrush or even just your finger.
Both the dogs did not object to it's use and accepted it well. It is early days to tell whether the plaque and tartar problem will be resolved but I will report back on that after giving it a longer trial. It did not certainly freshen their breath. "Amber" my larger mongrel has really horrid breath, not sure why, unless it is the medication she has to have on a daily basis. The Dental Gel did help. "Maisy" the little Border Collie has not got perfect breath and she is also a fussy little dog. She accepted the application well and did not mind it at all.
The best time to apply this is at bedtime when there is no more food to be offered and the dog has probably had it's last drink. That way the product stays around the mouth to give a better chance of it working.
