Edit: A better way to tell the genuine article, they will have a hologram on the box .
Edit: I’ve come to realize that every single one of these with the exception of a single pair I have purchased have been counterfeit. And the counterfeit ones are garbage. The genuine‘s are great but they are very difficult to purchase here. You can tell the genuine article because they have a hologram on the back and a serial number you can check on the manufacturers website. So if your box doesn’t have a hologram, you’ve gotten a fake pair.
So after going through 4 pairs of these... ( i love the size, form factor, performance etc.) Not a single pair has lasted more than 2 months. Invariably at some point, one of the buds fails to charge or turn on. It is very unfortunate because I like the earbuds very much.
So as I’ve come to discover the first pair that I received were fakes. I am leaving the original review so you know how bad the fakes are. When they lose pairing the standard procedure does not bring them back together. I lost my original pair and I’m not even sure why I replace them except that I just don’t like losing stuff. They are very light and compact and so they made a decent Emergency pair. But the ones I received were so much better. The voice clarity was much better on the other end of a phone call and on my end. Other water resistant and they can survive an accidental drop into the toilet as long as you don’t flush. The fit and finish is clearly a step above the first pair that I received. In the battery life is pretty amazing for something so small, light, and compact. And for the price of one pair of Apple earbuds I can buy eight pairs of these so I’m adjusting my rating.
As I don’t have the original earbuds to compare I did take some photos of the cases. As you can see the legitimate case is much more matte finish and it has a better feel to it. The fake one is really quite glossy and you can barely read the printing on the back, in fact I didn’t even realize there was anything on the bottom until I shine the photo light on it. The last bit inside the case where the cut outs are that the electric contacts come up through the bottom, they are very obvious on the fake case but they are much more precisely fitted in the genuine one.

These worked perfectly for me until i lost one for a few hours and used the other bud in single ear mode. It has since been impossible to get them to work together anymore. I read the manual, and tried alternate procedures online multiple times. Works with tech support. Nothing. They will reset supposedly, but will not pair back together. Even if get them to start working, I am unwilling to go this every time.
It is one of those cases where the product would be excellent if it worked.
