I've had an African Grey for a little over 10 years now and I usually buy her food at the local pet store. I was started on buying this zupreem fruit blend bird food for her from her veterinarian and have been using it ever since. I just realized how much more I was getting charged buying it from our local pet store instead of on Amazon. It's such a better deal on here, I usually bought the smaller bags because we don't go through them that often, but the bear bag was the best deal I could find and so it might take me a little longer to go through it. My bird always seems to like this food and I'm just glad I can get it at a better price and even have it delivered to my house!

As a family with over 25 years of experience with a variety of birds, this blend is top notch. Our African Gray (parrot) goes bonkers just seeing the package. He dives right in and very little food is wasted. Oftentimes birds spend time beaking their way through the selection in search of their desired seeds and nutrients, and much of the meal ends up on the papers at the bottom of the cage. But not the case with this particular blend. It may cost a few pennies more, but in the long run your bird is happier and healthier.

Great value. One of the best products around.

I had recently switched my Senegal Parrot's diet (after 16 years) to a pelleted diet (of his choosing). We went to the pet store, and I let him see all the different sizes and colors (I figured if he showed an interest in it visually, there was a better chance of him actually trying to eat it), and he chose the ZuPreem FruitBlend for Medium/Large Birds.

So, we get home, and I change his food over, cold turkey. I braced myself for the inevitable bratty child my parrot was to become...but all I heard was crunching. I look, and the little bugger had dove into the new food! It made the swap completely painless. In fact, after a couple weeks, he had put on a few grams. I am so in love with this food.

Now, I can't promise it'll make a picky eater magically eat, but I know my little guy would give it an awkward parrot toe up, and that's all that really matters.

No matter how many times I tell my human Mom I hate the orange, she still puts them in my bowl. If you could just keep those it would save a world of trouble. I love the purple ones. And the reds not bad but I just toss the Orange ones on the floor. My Human Mom said they all taste the same, I'm wondering how she knows that????

Large Cereal Pieces - Not for Small Conures (Don't Trust a UPC scan!)

PET FOOD IS NON-RETURNABLE. When we scanned the UPC code on the ZuPreem bird food we have been feeding our green-cheeked Conure, this is the product that came up. It appeared to be the same food as what have on hand by a visual comparison of the shape and color of the cereal pieces. The only thing that was looked different was the photo of the bird on the bag - and we thought it was simply updated packaging. However, our little girl won't eat it. The food in our package is about 1/4 the size of these pieces. Now I will have to physically go to a pet store to get her more food, which I'm not anxious to do because of the coronavirus pandemic. I gave it five stars for freshness because is IS fresh.

We recently adopted a lovely Amazon that thankfully was already on a pellet diet - she has been eating a mix of this and Harrison's pellets. We love to support small businesses in our area - but this food was costing me about $12 for a small 1.5 lb bag - so buying 12 lbs for $46 is a no-brainer! It keeps well - we are just keeping it an airtight glass bin so I don't even believe we will have to freeze it.
It's a great food - my girl loves the colors and she does seem to prefer this over the Harrison's pellets. She gets fresh pellets in the morning and 3 small bowls of veggies/fruits throughout the day. We try to give her at least 10 different fresh veggies/fruits every day - and she gets one or two nuts or a treat in one of the bowls a few times a week - Amazons are prone to obesity so we have to limit the seeds/nuts. She also eats lunch and dinner with us and gets a small taste of what we are having. She loves brown rice, wheat pasta, etc. - but just a tiny bit!
She just had a checkup at our vet with blood tests and she has been on this food for 2 years - she is in great health so we will stick with it.

If I had to rate it based solely upon my opinion as a parront I would give it 2 stars because I cross my fingers every time I open the bag. Rarely do 2 batches ever look or smell the same and some have smelled borderline rancid despite the expiration date being 18 months away. However, my birds prefer it to every other brand I've tried over the years. Of course they do, it has the highest sugar content. The brand inconsistency scares me to death. They haven't had any recalls in recent history and my avian vet tech has noticed the same issue. It's supposed to smell like a chemically fruit loops cereal. Not linseed oil or anything else. But... They love it so I continue to buy it! ARGH!!!! My bird's feathering looks great and they have been eating this food for many years. Amazon delivered it fresh and fast. I just wish it were more consistent and then I would feel better about it. Yes, I try to incorporate other brands, but this is their decided preference.

I have tried for a month now to wean my 4 month old Alexandrine parakeet onto this product. She hates it and has gone as far as displaying anger and hurling it out of her bowl. She has no issues with eating fresh fruit and loves, mangoes, apples, pears, grapes, strawberries etc etc but hates this product. The ZuPreem products are ridiculously expensive compared to their competitors. I will continue to try weaning her onto this but not holding my breath.

So I tricked my Grey by putting these pellets in the toy he usually gets his treats from. After flinging a couple of them away and looking at me like 'wtf this?' he gave them a try. Seems to enjoy. The last roudybush ones were impossible to get him to eat, even after 18 months of trying. Only issue is they are very brittle and hard, he seems to struggle, so often when he bites into them, the pellets shoot off in pieces, so most is wasted. But parrots love wasting food anyway...
Nice resealable bag to keep fresh though.
