I would not recommend this item for kittens & petite cats under 8.5lbs, as they can fit through the bars. If they get used to doing this, & gain weight later on, they could get stuck trying.

I would not recommend this item for kittens & petite cats under 8.5lbs, as they can fit through the bars. If they get used to doing this, & gain weight later on, they could get stuck trying.

I got the 39" gate for my older cat, & I would not recommend using shorter gates for cats of any age, even for seniors. Things may be fine with shorter gates on most days for a long time - until one day, there's a novel element on the other side that absolutely *blows their minds* - & they're over the fence. Some can become incredibly ambitious at any age, with the right inspiration.

On the other hand, if your home ever undergoes an unforeseen emergency - you may want kitty to be able to get out, if they had to. see less

I'm sure it is possible with some additional construction but not right out of the box. The gate relies on pressure against the opposing walls. If the gate is not perpendicular to both walls it will likely slide out of place and fall over.

In the write up it says the width is 29 inches . My doorway is 30 1/2 wide . Yet you say it’s 32 inches wide. So which is it actually?29 or 32 ? Because if it’s 32 then the write up is wrong and it will not fit my 30 1/2 door opening.

There are some gates that have a small gate within the large gate. I saw them when shopping Amazon. That may be a better solution for you..
