I'll answer this question like this: I am 6'5'' and weigh 280 lbs. This is the most comfortable mattress I have every slept on. Now with that said, it sleeps very warm. I've recently bought sheets with a higher thread count (1250 from 500) that are "cooling" and that has help tremendously. Answer:
I have a bad back. Soft beds simply make it worse. This bed, sells as Med Firm.
Is darn near as firm as you'll get in a memory bed. All whilst NOT feeling like it's rock hard.

I sleep a heck of a lot better and wake up without the extra excruciating back pain. This bed is perfect for those wanting/ needing a COMFORTABLE Firm bed.
I bought mine Oct, 2020. And will buy another for the guest room. see less

However, I popped a memory form topper on it and it's perfect now. I have a bad back so firm is better. Answer:
Hello, If you are planning on using a platform bed or roll slats you do not need a box spring/foundation. However, if your bed does not have the proper support your mattress will fail. Thank you, Daniel
