It is just about 29 inches. This height is with polyurethane wheels that did not come with the chair. These wheels seem to be slightly higher than the wheels it came with - about 1/2 inch taller.
I tried both ways with and without the arms. And without the arms I feel like the back of the chair will extend too far and break. However, if you are able to still find comfort, I loosened the screws at the top of the arm rest and only used the first holes at the bottom of the chair if the arm rest. Gave a little more…

Gave a little more room for the thighs. Otherwise, I would have had to return the chairs because they would have been too uncomfortable to sit in.

It does squeak. Horribly. Please do not lie to your customers. I have taken the chair apart and I believe the fault lies in the mechanism that supports you when you tilt back. It should not tilt forward. The two I bought tend to sit towards the back like a normal chair. Might try detaching and re-attaching the seat and use a level for the pole. On or more of the casters May have not seated right.
