Yes you can put any smaller PCIE cart into a larger slot. You should check your motherboard because sometimes they share lanes, so you'd want to avoid putting it in a slot that shares lanes with your graphics card if you can avoid it.

You need to have a wifi 6 capable router. When you set up your router you give a name to each network. Most Wifi 6 routers have three bands, a 2.4, 5 and wifi6 band. They each should have their own distinct wifi network name. So you need to identify which network is your wifi6, and connect to that one.

While the adapter is capable of up to 2402Mbps via 5GHz, and up to 574Mbps over 2.4GHz, it will also depend on other factors within your network - such as your Internet speed plan, your router's Wi-Fi features/specs/speed, Wi-Fi signal strength, and which Wi-Fi band (2.4GHz is generally slower than 5GHz) you are connecting to.
