This little case is a lot sturdier than I realized after receiving it in my shipment. I was expecting a hard case to protect my external drive I have to carry around from time to time in a bag, and this fits the bill while also being durable. The zipper is nice and easy at its function to open and close the case without sticking or getting the teeth caught during the process. It's a very basic and simple hard case, the left side has a nice mesh pocket that's stitched in place sturdy to keep any hard drive cables contained in the same spot and avoid misplacing it or losing it in a larger bag. Because this hard case is pretty firm, it's not going to allow much give if you try to add too many USB sticks, cables or a mini mouse inside with the drive-- if you can close the case and zip it up with ease then it'll protect your tech gear nicely. I like how this hard case remains slim so that I can easily store it in my bag while on-the-go from home to the library. Even if you don't use this a external hard drive case, this could make for a nice small protective case for the smaller loose items in one place like USB sticks, small cords, headphones or a mouse.

Simple and very compact

There are thicker, sturdier cases that might offer more protection. But this is the most compact.

For me, the important features are protection without excessive slack or dimensions. With a thicker case I was wasting space in my briefcase, and having trouble fitting it in with other objects. This one is perfect. Of course, you might get a little more resistance to crushing with a thicker fatter case, but in practice it's irrelevant. I like to wedge the drive in this case on the desk while in use. No sliding around, and again no wasted space. The low walls give good ventilation, and the padding is sufficient if it falls to the floor.

This case will hold one of the little portable spinning drives, say a Passport or the slightly bigger Passport Ultra (that isn't actually faster), with a short cable and USB adapter, maybe a few $100 bills, a photo of your sweethearts, and perhaps some medicinal refreshments. That's about it. If you stomp on it with your combat boots, you could regret it. But you can nicely slip a couple of these in your briefcase or backpack, instead of one fatter one that won't help with the drive count or the boot stomping anyway.

As a video editor and cinematography, I fill a ton of hard drives that I often find myself needing to lug around and send out to clients. I looked at several different products that essentially work to add a little more protection to external hard drives, and after several tries, I finally kept this one. I had little luck with the silicon “skins” for the drives, due mostly to inconsistencies in where the holes were punched out for cords and the big variety of sizes that hard drives now come in. I then purchased a product similar to this but with a smoother texture on eBay for $2 less than this Amazon basics case. The eBay cases began to fall apart and were just generally of a worse quality, But these Amazon basics cases have been excellent, from the material to the quality of the zipper! The texture feels more sturdy, but not bulky. The two different types of netting/compartments in the case make it super convenient to hold both a drive and the cord, while at the same time make the case able to hold a huge variety of hard drives shapes/thicknesses, as they stay in place and secure. I’ve used these now with WD passports, Seagate backup Plus drives, an SSD and a few other branded external hard drives. These aren’t made to be shockproof, underwater, pelican-case protection mechanisms, but for those days when I need to take my hard drives with me, or in storage with archived drives on a shelf, these work to supply an extra layer between your drive and the things it touches, it feels sturdy but lightweight, and it keeps dust, crumbs, and sharp objects from your frive’s fragile cable ports.

Spend the extra $2 and save the time. These are a must have for anyone using external hard drives.

I recently bought an external drive but wanted to make sure it was protected. I've had other external drives and often end up in a drawer and then I'm trying to find the cable, or it gets jostled around with other items in a storage bin. This case is sturdy and the drive fits perfectly inside. I like the pouch for the cable and there is an elastic strap to hold the drive in place. Nice strong zipper I know it's secure. And the perfect size, I can easily carry this around without it being too bulk. If you need to buy an external drive, I highly recommend this case. You can't go wrong.

I don't know if I am wasting my time giving an honest review because last time I did so Amazon refused to print it..but anyway, here goes. Amazon asked me to give a review so who am I to refuse. What do I want in a hard drive case? I had just purchased from Amazon a "My Passport" drive for my new Dell laptop and as a proud new father I felt that it needed a home, so I looked on Amazon for a suitable case for it to live in. Being a OAP I was as usual, a little short of cash so I succumbed to the slick Amazon advertising and went for the Amazon Basic brand. I had purchased “Basic” before and had no trouble so I thought it would be OK. First of all, it was too small for the drive although it was advertised as being compatible. It was a bit of a struggle to get my Passport in and even harder to get it out of the case, there just was not enough space around the drive to get a grip. And inside the case, which was bright orange the finish and stitching left a lot to be desired. The black finish on the outside of the case was acceptable but overall, I felt I had been sold a dummy. I think they must have got them from a local market store to resell. To remedy the situation, I bit the bullet and resolved to spend a little more on a “Case Logic” brand case. I had bought one before and had not been disappointed. Why oh why did I really think I could match it with Amazon Basic. What a difference. The outside finished was superb as was the inside and there was plenty of room for my drive to be easily removed from the case. I had wasted my money on the Basic brand and had learned a new lesson in life. I am now using my Basic case for storing my cuff-links - they just fit in!
I am now waiting for me to review the Logic case! It will be the same review.

後から商品詳細を確認すると、内寸12x9x2cmとあり、このHDDが129.5x80.8x16.1mmのため、ギリギリアウトということが判明。
内寸の確認を怠った自分に非があるので低評価はしませんが、あのカスタマーレビューには星1つを差し上げたいです...

I’ve bought a few items from Amazon Basics range to date and so far its been a wholly positive experience, so I had no hesitation in ordering this carry case for my new WD My Passport 1TB USB 3.0 High Capacity Portable Hard Drive for Mac - Silver.

Upon its arrival I noticed that it had been shipped in ‘frustration free’ packaging which was indeed frustration free. I had it open and in use within seconds. On initially feeling the case I was pleased with the strength of the hard shell and after examining the case stitching and general manufacturing quality I was wholly delighted.

This case fits my WD My Passport perfectly and I like the interior mesh pocket that holds the USB cable when it is not in use. In the pic I uploaded here you can see that I am backing up to my new drive with the drive sat safely inside the case. I then simply unplugged the USB cable and closed the case. Easy.

I feel totally happy with this case in every way, why pay more for a branded product when this case from Amazon Basics is just as good, if not better. Its certainly cheaper and I don’t mind cheaper at all as long as I am not compromising on quality and with this case there is no compromise whatsoever.

RECOMMENDED!
