In my opinion, this by far, is one of the most cost-effective bang-for-the-buck upgrades you can make to any decent home theater system with a large enough TV. The overall effect when watching movies is dramatic and priceless. Easy to install and set up with the App. Take your time laying out the light strips before applying the adhesive backing to find their ideal placement.
After playing with the settings for a few days with the camera mounted on the TV, I found that by simply turning the color saturation level all the way down and the brightness all the way up, it gave me the best results in my room. I'm sure results will vary depending on how far away from the wall the TV is located, color of the wall the light reflects on, how dim or bright the room is, and of course personal tastes.
Like others have mentioned, the colors aren't always exact, and I'm sure this has to do with the camera mounted so close to the screen. With the saturation turned all the way down it's much less noticable. Colors tend to blend much better with what is actually on screen, while at the same time the overall effect is much more convincing and natural looking to the eyes.
Pro-Tip: If you want your Govee Immersion experience to the next level, proper camera placement and mounting angle is where all the magic really happens. Mounting the camera directly onto the TV as it's designed to will work and is practical, but it is far from ideal and performance suffers drastically. The camera is just not able to do its job while mounted at such a drastic angle so close to the screen, hence the inaccurate colors you'll constantly hear about in other reviews.
If you are able to relocate the camera out farther from the TV and point it as direct to the screen as possible, you'll get to see these lights perform at their fullest potential. Don't be afraid to calibrate and recalibrate, experiment a little. When done recalibrating for the new camera position, you'll be astonished to see how much more accurate the colors show, just how many more actual colors there are, and just how much more lively the overall light display will become.
The result of proper camera placement and calibration makes the Govee Immersion mind-blowingly good. Shockingly good. Amazingly good. Eat your heart out Phillips, I'm afraid Govee's pretty much gotchya' on this one with just one simple and minor adjustment. Well done Govee, well done.
