I am new to canning and wanted to can some peach pie filling. Watching several youtube videos on the subject, many people used Clear Jel for a thickener. But someone mentioned they used Arrowroot instead. They also said it will not go bad like some other thickeners....cornstarch for example. I believe I saw in the USDA guide (check me on that) said you can use Arrowroot in equal amounts in place of Clear Jel. With Arrowroot being cheaper I opted to purchase it. Also, the Clear Jel was out of stock at the time. Since then I have purchased the Clear Jel and the next canning session I may use it just to compare the difference in the two products.
