Works really well for your front door if you can be a little creative with installation. I have an adopted Doberman and wanted to leave the front door open for air often. We live in the Northwest w/o many insects. This is tall enough my athletic Dobe has never even tried it. It is very sturdy. If you want to use it in front of an exterior door make sure you install it so that you can get your key in and turn the knob. It's a bit of a trick. Also install the gate as low as you can so that it is flush with the threshold so if you step on the lower gate crossbar it won't push the whole gate down.
