I had been using an older generation 64 GB Evo Select card on my Switch and decided to bite the bullet and upgrade my storage. The newer generation 128 GB card was a bit more than the older one but promised much better read/write speeds. In this respect, the card delivers—my games loaded in a fraction of the time it would take on the older card. However, the area around the MicroSD card slot became persistently hot and my Switch’s battery began to drain much more quickly. I’m not sure if the higher read/write speeds draw more power from the device. The card seems to be authentic; it has the correct amount of storage and the read/write speeds are top-notch. I’m not sure if it’s just faulty, but in any case, I returned it for a plain old Evo Plus 128 GB card to be safe. Caveat emptor.
