How customer reviews and ratings work

Customer Reviews, including Product Star Ratings help customers to learn more about the product and decide whether it is the right product for them.

To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyzed reviews to verify trustworthiness.

I had ZERO confidence that these would work, but after three months (I'm on my 2nd set), I have to say that they do. It's amazing. I had yellow/brown spots all over my newly sodded Kentucky Bluegrass from our two small dogs (a Pekinese and a Chewenie). I now have only one spot where the grass still turned brown. My theory is that the dogs loved this particular spot for some reason and no amount of Dog Rocks where going to save the grass from that volume of pee. So, I screened off the area and luckily. the dogs seemed to go in random spots and not a new common spot. If my theory is correct, I suspect that the rocks may be less effective, the larger the dog is (due to more pee), but I have not tested this, so I could be completely wrong. In any event, if you have smaller dogs and can keep them from peeing in the same spot, I highly recommend these Dog Rocks. I honestly cannot believe the result. I exclusively use one of those water dispensers with the clear reservoir. It's 1.2 gallons and I only fill it half way to keep the rock-to-water ratio higher.

3.0 out of 5 starsWorks great but any igneous rock will work just as well and for free
Reviewed in the United States on September 24, 2017
These rocks do work, but really there is nothing special about these. There is no sense in paying $15+ for them. Any igneous rock will work just as well. I found a whole bunch of them just down the street from my home which are exactly the same rocks that came in this bag. . They are used in landscaping, etc. Go to your local Home Depot or Lowes and they sell this stuff in large bags for cheap if your neighborhood doesn't have any laying around.

They do not work forever and will need to be replaced everything month. But seriously, don't waste your money on this product. Just pick up some of these rocks in your neighborhood and they will work just as well.

I saw this on Amazon, Chewey & PetSmart, so thought it would be a real product that had been tested. My daughter, a researcher/ professor in evolutionary biology laughed when I told her why I had stones in the dog’s water. The study they cited from McGill University was a lie, go to the university website.. Apparently it’s scientifically impossible and their explanation makes absolutely no sense to a knowledgeable scientist..

Our 50 lb. dog has been drinking Dog Rock Water for five months and, while my observations are not scientific evidence, they do lead me to order these every two months.
I avoid "junk science," but my despair over my dying lawn led me to try this as a solution to the scorched-earth craters and trails I found in my our backyard lawn. What I discovered is that using these rocks improved the appearance of my lawn by about 80%. I say this because a visiting female dog, who is not on the rocks, will leave a round spot (dead grass in a perfect circle) that would not heal over for 5+ weeks. My male dog will now leave a trail of partially dead grass that heals in about a week. Of course, following each dog and diligently hosing the area immediately after they pee will also work, but it's almost impossible to do be consistent in that. I found that in looking out over our lawn from the house, I don't even see the partially dead grass anymore so, for me, these do the job I was hoping they would do.
Just a suggestion: Put the rocks in a beverage jug, fill it with 2 liters of water, and set it aside for 10 hours. Then pour the water (without rocks) in the dog's water bowl. I try to have one container in process and one container ready for the bowl so we are never in danger of running out.

For years I used Top Paw Lawn Saver Biscuits, and it worked 'okay'...better than nothing. Over the years I noticed my dog's were throwing up at least once a week. I read up on the biscuits and found that they change the dogs' Ph, and that's what was making them sick. On top of that, my lawn still died off in huge patches, which I had to seed every year to fix. I came across the 'Dog Rocks', and scoffed thinking what moron would put rocks in a water bowl and expect it to work...this moron, that's who lol. I tried it for a few months, and my lawn started healing itself, and my dogs stopped throwing up. My lawn has never looked this good. I got three very large dogs who pee on that lawn constantly, so whatever its doing, its doing well. The price is a bit steep, but its better than the alternative in more than one way. Until someone can prove that the rocks are just a common type of rock, I'll be a subscriber for as long as I have dogs, i.e for life.

5.0 out of 5 stars They Totally Work!

I have 3 dogs: a female MalShi, a female Goldendoodle, and a male MalShi. We never had grass burns until the two female dogs started living here as well. Apparently female dog urine is more acidic (?), so that is why I looked into something to help from ruining the grass. I read the reviews first and most of them said to give the rocks a chance, meaning at least 4-6 weeks to actually do their thing. So having this mindset really helped because I didn’t really see a difference until around 4 weeks or so. I took a before picture (1-22-19) and then an after picture (3-4-19) to be able to see the difference. All three dogs have no problem with the rocks in their water and have not shown any weird side effects or anything. I am so pleased so far and will definitely be buying another set!!

We have 3 German Shepherds and we were very diligent about letting their water sit in pitcher with the rocks before transferring the water to their bowls. My wife is a Vet Tech and she tested the PH of their urine and that did not change. Problem is, neither did the urine burns in our lawn. We saw no noticeable difference in the lawn. We had high hopes but the rocks did not work for us.

5.0 out of 5 stars No more burns!

I live in a townhome and noticed my portion of the lawn looked awful from all the burns from my female Australian Shepherd. A friend with a male pitbull leaving burns recommended these to me. They are AMAZING! My lawn burns are completely gone!

However, I want to note I do not leave these in her dog bowl.

Instead, I keep a pitcher of water with one rock at a time in it (unless they are small than a few) and refill her water bowl with the pitcher. She goes through water so fast that if they were in her bowl the water would not have proper time to balance with the rocks ph. If you have a dog who goes through their water quickly when filling, I recommend using a water pitcher instead or keeping the rocks in the top tub part if you have one of those water dispenser bowls for best results.

I give these mineral rocks a 10 out of 10 stars. I have 2 big boys and for years I could not grow grass. My Rottweiler mix’s urine was so potent that it would kill anything he pee’d on. It was so strong it would even stain the concrete until washed off. I was fed up of not having grass that I looked into supplements and came across these all natural mineral rocks. My husband laughed his a** off when I opened the package. He said “honey, I can get you some rocks off 1 of my job sites” 🤣 I felt kind of silly but I rinsed then off and placed both rocks in their water bowl. I decided to sprinkle grass seed in my yard where there was NO grass at all. I hopes that the mineral rocks would actually work. I’m not kidding you, when I started to see patches of grass actually growing I couldn’t believe my eyes. It’s only been 6 weeks!! I never, ever write reviews on products but I absolutely had to for these rocks. I was so impressed. I’ll be placing my second order today and so on from here on out. These are worth every penny.

Sincerely,
Jennifer

Note: You must replace the stones every 2 months
