5.0 out of 5 starsUse just a little to get optimal strawberry flavor - This is stronger than standard extracts!
Reviewed in the United States on June 19, 2020
This extract has a wonderful fresh strawberry flavor. However, it is very potent. You need to use an eye dropper to measure, unlike some other less strong flavorings. If you get a flavor that is too bitter or too much like alcohol, etc, you used too much. I use this to flavor iced tea. For one gallon of fairly strong tea, I use only 1.3 ml of flavoring, which is about 1/4 teaspoon. DO NOT use the normal measures in a recipe to substitute this flavoring - it will be too strong.

If you do not believe me about the strength, let me ask you - have you ever tasted vanilla extract straight out of the bottle? Even if you love vanilla in cookies, cakes or tea, etc, you will likely think it tastes horrid and bitter straight out of the bottle! So if you think yours tastes bad, try using less.

Note - different Olive Nation extracts are different strengths, so experiment with a little until you know how much you need for a particular recipe. For one gallon of tea, I can use one teaspoon of mango extract, 1/4 tsp of strawberry, 1/16 tsp of watermelon, and less than 1/16 tsp of apricot (I just got eye droppers and need to experiment with the last one - it is really strong!). Hope that helps you. :)

I read the reviews of the different flavors of this product and they go from one extreme to the other. You either love it or hate it and it doesn't matter the flavor. I ordered the red raspberry and it's horrible. I poured it down the drain and tossed the bottle in the recycling bin. The smell of it was rancid. I can't describe it any other way. I tasted a little of it and wow way too much alcohol and no red raspberry flavor at all. If I would have to take a guess I would say there is something not stable in the manufacturing of these extracts. It seems that some batches or maybe just bottles are getting too much alcohol while others are getting too much flavoring and for those lucky ones that get it just right. I would tell OliveNation to start looking at how their product is being made. There is an inconsistency some place that should be addressed. Unfortunately until there is improvement I will be looking elsewhere. Thank you for your time.

1.0 out of 5 stars DO NOT WASTE YOURE MONEY ON KEY LIME EXTRACT!!!
Reviewed in the United States on January 21, 2019
Flavor Name: Key LimeVerified Purchase
Key Lime flavor in their dreams only!!! This is the worst stuff I’ve ever had the experience of using. There is NOTHING lime about it. It tastes like chemicals and had an after taste that kept me up all night. Do yourself a huge favor and DO NOT ORDER THIS!!!
I’m usually a positive reviewer, but there was NOTHING POSITIVE TO SAY about this product! Can’t find key limes here most of the year, so tried to use this to get that flavor and it was an EPIC FAILURE! Had to throw the whole recipe away. My husband agreed and helped me dump it. And we’re not ones to throw food away easily.

2.0 out of 5 stars Read the ingredients, alcohol is first, it should be second to last,
Reviewed in the United States on December 18, 2019
Flavor Name: AlmondVerified Purchase
I always used Cooks Pure Almond Extract and after getting this different brand I know why. Reading the ingredients the first one is Alcohol, then water and last is oil of bitter almond. Reading the ingredients of the Cook's brand it is Oil of Bitter Almond, then Alcohol and finally water. The first listed ingredient is always the primary one so this brand from Olive Nation is barely up to standard.

The proof though is upon opening the bottle. The Olive Nation brand reeks of alcohol, not almonds whereas the Cooks brand has no detectable alcohol smell, just that wonderful almond aroma you want for baking.

I had unwisely thought the Olive Nation brand would be a less expensive alternative but once again, you get what you pay for. I can't recommend this brand unless you don't mind using far more to get the same flavor as from another brand that has a superior ingredient priority.

4.0 out of 5 stars A fair and honest (not angry) mixed review
Reviewed in the United States on February 10, 2021
Flavor Name: Pure BlueberryVerified Purchase
UPDATE: I changed my review from 1 to 4 stars, given the following:
after adding a teaspoon per gallon into my Vintner's Best blueberry wine that needed a little something, I was initially worried. The cotton candy smell was intense and I really didn't think the blueberry flavor would ever show up. Well, after a few weeks I have discovered that this mates perfectly with this cheap wine kit:
5 gallon batch
2 cups sugar dissolved in 1 cup finished wine
5 teaspoons blueberry extract
set it in fridge.

NOW, here is what you must do. Aerate it before you drink it. toss it in a blender then refill your wine bottle. Viola! Incredible!

still not an A+ product, but a solid 4/5 I think after further examination.

So I've seen a lot of very, very, negative reviews, almost downright hostile.
this review is going to be negative but it there's just no reason to get so angry at getting a product and not having it meet your expectations.

I ordered mango grapefruit and blueberry. TTB. These are two flavor alcoholic drinks I'm making from hard seltzers and a blueberry wine because I did not like the way the vintner's best blueberry wine turned out.

First the mango is actually pretty decent not great but the closest to actually smelling like what they claim and it tastes pretty good. For the money if you plan on doing a lot of small mango additions as a secondary flavor to another beverage, I think it's worth the money.

The smell of the grapefruit although I've not used it yet, smells more like citrus than actual grapefruit.
I'll be putting that in my next batch of hard Seltzer to see how that turns out so I can't call it one way or the other but it does smell kind of sort of like grapefruit.

As for the blueberry, this stuff was so pungent it smelled like cotton candy through the box that I came through in Amazon. When I opened it it actually has a smell more like cleaning solvents than actual blueberry. This does not in any way smell like blueberry, and my nose is highly tuned for this sort of stuff so I can attest that it factually does not smell anything like blueberry. The taste isn't much like blueberry either but more like a fake candy blueberry-esque flavor.

I'm certainly disappointed as maybe I should have done some research but I trusted YouTube guy that I like and he's seem to think that the Cherry was pretty good. We'll have to see how it melds with the wine after it sits for a week I was hoping for a little more blueberry presentation.

I hope this is helpful, I think all of nation is trying to put out something decent for a cheap price and I can't really fault them on that.
I assume if you want something more authentic you're going to be paying three to four times as much.

WHAT HAVE YOU DONE OLIVE NATION??

I’ve purchased items in the past, when the bottles were glass. I had recommended Olive Nation to many of my friends and family because of the exquisite flavors your product gave seltzer water. It was perfect for Soda Stream.

The Key Lime and Lemon are disgusting now. Before it took only a few drops per Liter of water to get a good flavor. Now I cannot get that same result, even when adding up to a 1/4 teaspoon. Your product has greatly suffered due to some poor business strategy decisions.

Raise the cost to keep the highest quality product. You lost my business if things remain the same!

5.0 out of 5 stars A great Amaretto flavoring when added to 'homemade' ice cream
Reviewed in the United States on February 18, 2021
Flavor Name: AmarettoVerified Purchase
Fantastic as an an ingredient to my 'home made' vanilla bean ice cream.
When used in that capacity, it produces a beautiful back note of Amaretto complementing the intense flavor produced by the vanilla bean and sweetness of the green fig preserves I use as well. It maintains it's own place on the flavor pallet, not getting lost in the close company of the other ingredients I use.
I've tried other Amaretto flavorings that leave a bit of an alcohol aftertaste. This one doesn't. If you finger taste it from the bottle, you will taste 'alcohol.' It does contain alcohol! However, when I use it as described, it adds an authentic Amaretto flavor that puts my homemade 'Vanilla Bean' ice cream Over-the-Top...

3.0 out of 5 stars Red Raspberry Flavor
Reviewed in the United States on June 21, 2021
Flavor Name: Raspberry RedVerified Purchase
Had to try alternative to higher priced Raspberry extract brands. Not as pleasing of taste as Tones, using drop on finger tip of each. Using only a moderate amount (less than 1/8 tsp) in about 2 oz of water provides only the slightest hint of raspberry flavor; and using almost 1/8 tsp to 2 oz of water and the alcohol content becomes overwhelming.

Bought this to flavor ice tea -- will experiment more with it in ice tea.
+++++ Update: tried 1/4 tsp in 8oz, obvious smell of alcohol, no raspberry flavor taste, and it left a sensation of alcohol evaporation and taste in mouth. I'm abandoning experimentation.

5.0 out of 5 stars Strawberry milk and smoothies with less carbs
Reviewed in the United States on December 11, 2021
Flavor Name: StrawberryVerified Purchase
I am loosely following a keto/low carb diet. I bought this extract because I was missing strawberry flavor in my smoothies. This extract is really good for making strawberry milk too. Here’s the recipe I use for 3.5 net carbs instead of the 24g net carbs in Nesquik and regular milk:

4 oz Fairlife milk
4 oz coconut milk or almond milk
1 Tbsp Sola or other sweetener
1 tsp strawberry extract
1/4 tsp vanilla extract
1 pinch salt
2 drops red food coloring (fact is it doesn’t taste as good if it’s not pink)

If you want to use almond or coconut milk instead of Fairlife, it would reduce the net carbs to only 1g, but I prefer the taste of real whole milk.
