If you like Patchouli, you have to try this!!

I like my clothes to smell clean and have always used Tide. I also am an avid fan of essential oils and patchouli being one of my favorites, had to try. Over the last few days, I've had many compliments about how good I smell as it is not overwhelming but subtle enough to notice. I personally don't notice the smell ON me as I go about my day, but others do and my laundry room smells FAB!

Doesn’t work

Pictured is a food stain that didn’t come out in the laundry.
I wanted to love this laundry soap. I love the smell of patchouli.
Unfortunately, it doesn’t clean anything. If you are a pristine, clean, elegant person then it may work. But for me- Ms. Pitstains MessyEater- it isn’t enough.
Adding more soap won’t help cleaning; it’ll only leave residue.

Furthermore the patchouli smell wanes with the rinse cycle. The idea of a natural, patchouli scented laundry soap is appealing. But when it doesn’t clean and the smell doesn’t linger; what’s the point?
There is none. Don’t pay extra for something that doesn’t do its only two jobs: clean your clothes and leave them smelling nice.

Contrastly, I’ve used a smaller bottle of the frankincense laundry soap by this brand. It seemed to work better. But that was years ago.. perhaps their formula changed and cheapened.

Not much of a scent as I was hoping

Abit disappointed for the quantity and price and my bedding doesn't smell of patchouli. I could smell a patchouli scent when I was measuring out the detergent. But it wasn't strong. When I opened the washer to transfer my bedding into the dryer I smelled absolutely nothing. And the detergent is abit diluted like watered down. I highly doubt my boyfriend and I will be laying in bed tonight enjoying the smell of patchouli. So I don't know what alot of the other reviews are talking about clothes smelling all of patchouli, washer and dryer smelling of it. No, maybe if I used the whole bottle of it.

Smell disappeared after opening bottle one time

I love the idea. Love patchouli, except, this doesn't smell like patchouli after opening it multiple times. Upon opening it, I did get a pleasant scent of patchouli. Used it as the directions say. Smell faded once in dryer on first load. Tried multiple loads in different amounts, but the smell is a little nauseating now, its also very wattery. I decided to use a scent free commercial brand detergent plus this added to it, to see if it'd actually CLEAN the clothes. The clothes feel like softener was added, which is nice. Still, no real smell after multiple tries- not very patchouli like, which would usually stay on your clothes for quite a while. Feel like i got a bad batchz as i usually love this brand for soaps and such. Meh.

Second purchase disappointment

This is the second time I’ve purchased the Zum Laundry Soap in Patchouli scent. The first time I bought it I really enjoyed the scent. It made everything I washed smell amazing! However, the second time I purchased the same when I received it I was very disappointed because it smelled nothing like the first time I purchased the laundry soap.

I’m hesitant to purchase again since I’m not sure the soap will have the same scent as it did the first time.

Amazon’s directions to leave a review say ‘you could mention “scent,” “value for money” and “for sensitive skin.”’

Scents it is for sensitive skin, it is a good value for money.

Zum’s directions say to use 1 or 2 ounces depending on your load. But ounces are a weight, not volume measurement and I don’t have a scale. Plus the jug doesn’t come with a measuring cup to measure the laundry sauce. So I have been winging it.

I have used Zum products over the years. I've noticed that the product I am using now seems to be watered down. In the past, the amount of product for a load was double the amount as this bottle and they have reduced the directions because of the smaller cap. So I've had to use 2 caps, to get the same performance. So I don't know if they have changed the recipe. The bottle is definitely smaller.

Scent only lasts for a week after opening

I was looking forward to the scent on my laundry and at first it was great but I've only used an 1/8 of the bottle and there is no scent at all left. It just went away after a couple of weeks. For the price, I won't be reordering. I'll find something else.

I love Zum detergent! It smells wonderful - people comment that I always smell good, and I don’t wear perfume. This last purchase however, the viscosity of the soap is very thin. The previous purchases from Zum directly was twice as thick. It makes me think this has been watered down. I don’t think I will buy from this dealer again.

The smell is very light to be almost unnoticeable. The bottle indicates fabric softener isn't needed and this is only partly true. Towels are fine without fabric softener and the patchouli scent is most noticeable on towels. But other fabrics (knits, polyester mix fabrics, etc., still require at least a fabric softener sheet which then eliminates whatever patchouli scent may have been on the fabric.

Lost its fragrance quickly

This smelled great for a couple of weeks. But maybe 25% through the bottle the good smell vanished and turned into a bland musty smell. Total waste of money at this price. Maybe the smaller bottle can retain the smell through the duration of its life.
