Easy to use; Much cheaper than buying a new mouse after losing your original receiver!

After losing the receiver for my Logitech M570, my absolute FAVORITE mouse, I was just about ready to buy a new one, when I realized that I could simply buy a new receiver and save some money. The receiver arrived in a small package, but was incredibly easy to install and use. The only thing you must do is download a piece of software called Logitech Unifying Software”. Once you install that and go through the setup, the mouse works perfectly, just like it used to. So to reiterate, the mouse is NOT plug and play. You have to first download the free software in order to begin using your mouse with the new receiver.

Overall, if you have a more expensive Logitech mouse, and you’ve managed to lose the receiver like I did, buying a new receiver is a quick and easy way to get back to using your favorite mouse, all while saving money.

Worked great for a while, but suddenly fell apart after 6 months. I tried putting it back together and it is no longer recognizable, so pretty much broken. I have a feeling that it's a knockoff because the housing doesn't match the picture and the lettering on the end is rubbing off. The actual receiver chip is definitely made by logitech and works great, but the housing and tray that the chip sits in are most likely cheap knock offs, which really determines how long this product lasts. My suggestion, try buying the other logitech receiver being sold on Amazon. I just ordered one and may or may not update this review based on how that receiver performs. The item came in good condition. Was able to download the unifying software easily based on the instructions that were given.
Everything was nice and dandy until the software notified me that this receiver was not compatible with the M305. Be careful! Cause it is listed that it is compatible when it clearly isn't. On top of that item is non refundable.

I accidentally bought this from two different sellers. First one from ProElectronics Distributing (96% positive in the last 12 months (5056 ratings)) and the second one from The Fountain Company (97% positive in the last 12 months (86 ratings)). The first one arrived in a small plastic bag. No markings. No barcodes etc. The second one, from Fountain Company, came in retail packaging. Both work with M570 but I have no way of knowing if the first one is new or old. They also look quite different. So same product, same SKU, different receivers.

Attached are the pictures comparing the two (first one on the left second one, that came in retail packaging, on the right) and the one in retail packaging from the Fountain Company.

It DOES work with an old K330 keyboard and M215 mouse, software is the key

If you download the Logitech driver/utility for recognizing devices, I suspect you'll be fine. It worked for me. (and others) It gave new life to a couple of old devices I snagged that were being sent to salvage: an old K330 keyboard and M215 mouse.

I almost did NOT buy this USB item because of whines/gripes in reviews in three varied seller review listings that it didn't work with an old K330 keyboard and M215 mouse. I suspect folks presumed magical plug-and-play. (no offense intended)

I can confirm with the positive buyer reviews who said to download the driver/utility and INSTALL the utility for the unit to work. They were correct!

I went to the Logitech website and downloaded the software to get it from the "source" but there IS a small instruction sheet that shipped with the unit that ALSO pointed at software. (either way, scan all downloads)

Once installed, you get a little utility dialog that easily steps through getting recognition of your old devices.

OF COURSE, before using the software... I tried to see if just plugging in the unit would work and it'd auto-detect things via Bluetooth. It saw nothing via my PC's Bluetooth UNTIL I ran the utility.

Authentic Logitech USB Receiver

I have ordered two of these receivers on separate occasions and both of them were authentic, current version Logitech receivers. Both of the receivers have "LOGI" on the black end and are chamfered where it meets the metal insert; the inner portion with the metal contacts is orange. Older versions of the receivers have "Logitech" in white on the end and a valley running around the sides.
*Take note that YOU NEED TO DOWNLOAD the Logitech Unifying Software from Logitech's website; it is free to download and use.*
These receivers DO work with both the M510 mouse AND M570 trackball.

I bought this for my son and his wife that needed it because when I bought them the keyboard and mouse combination that I had sent to them, they inadvertently threw the receiver away with the packaging that contained the keyboard and mouse. I looked on the Logitech website to insure that I was getting the receiver that was compatible with the mouse and keyboard. They still have not gotten them to work with their computer. The computer is a store built Windows 10 machine with an AMD processor and it runs fine with the corded keyboard and mouse, but I wanted them to have the convenience of the cordless combination. Didn't work out, and I am 2500 miles away from them so I can't do it for them, and I don't seem to be able to find anyone at Logitech that cares to opine or perhaps to help.

Terrible receiver. This is the second time I purchased the receiver and it again stopped working within three months. Terrible customer service. Customer service rep mentioned he'd send a replacement but subsequently received an email asking to download and try to pair the device, something that was already done and that was confirmed to the customer service rep several times. Don't be fooled by the positive reviews.

Tiny, but works like magic

I lost my original USB receiver for a Logitech M510 mouse. It's nice that it's so tiny - but at the same time, it's easily misplaced. I will probably find it one day and I will end up with two of these things. Anyways, the price for one of these things is low enough that I didn't mind getting another one. Once it's plugged into a PC, all you have to do is download the Unifying software/drivers from Logitech and it will be ready. The Unifying software is meant so that you can pair multiple Logitech devices to the same receiver with minimal effort. In my case, the batteries in my M510 actually died, so I had to replace them. But once the mouse was turned on, it paired instantly to the receiver with no troubles.

Two Receivers will not work with one M325 Mouse

Just a FYI that having a second receiver for a M325 Logitech mouse will not work. I bought a second receiver based on the comments and product description that made it sound as if having 2 receivers would work with one M325 mouse. They do not. Only one works. I have two laptops and just one receiver and mouse. I wanted a second receiver so I didn't have to keep taking one out and putting it in the other laptop all day long. The description made it sound as though one mouse was compatible with multiple receivers. This is not true for the M325 mouse.
