It has a terrible musty odor and the box appears to have gotten wet. At first I thought it was just the box but its in the cushions as well. Parts were thrown in the box willy-nilly. Packing of this item at the factory appears to have been very poorly done, there was no attempt to secure things in the box, no styrofoam or spacers or anything. It does not appear to have been previously opened or used, just badly packed, and clearly stored in a flood zone. Well maybe not quite flood levels. But it got wet at some point. I didn't realize the odor was in the cushions too until I had it nearly fully assembled. I'm going to have to spray it with Febreeze. I'm sneezing due to whatever is making the musty smell. I haven't got a snowballs chance of disassembling this or I'd send it back. I'd have to throw everything back loose in the box, the way it came, but I can't get the wheels off so I'm stuck with it now. Not sure I can get the hydraulic cylinder off either.
I've been sitting in it for a couple of hours and the seat has already flattened out so that's not good. I'll have to get an extra cushion for it, I can tell that already. The wheels aren't all that either. They have that weird catch in them that cheap plastic wheels seem to have nowadays.
At least its better than the wooden dining chair I was using at my desk before, but I'll replace it as soon as I'm able. The height adjustment does work well but it has no adjustment for the back, no tilt, no forward-back movement possible. It was only $80 so I guess I didn't expect a lot of adjustment capability, but I did expect a better seat cushion and for it to be non-smelly. I am well under the weight limit btw so I'm not squashing the cushion due to fatness. It's just not a very firm cushion. Hopefully it'll be at least a little resilient and regain its shape. We'll see how long it takes to permanently squash it. For now it regains its shape fairly rapidly when I stand up, but as soon as I sit down again, squashy-squash and I can feel the wood or whatever its made out of that supports the cushion and attaches to the hydraulic lift. Drat.
