5.0 out of 5 starsLeviton is the brand I usually go for and I love their clamping system for wiring the device
Reviewed in the United States on August 21, 2017
Well, Leviton is the brand I usually go for and I love their clamping system for wiring the device. I purchased two of these for such a great price. However, I wired one GFCI with two regular receptacles going downstream that are "GFCI protect outlets".

Here is my complain, I used my tester and all three devices in the circuit says "Correct" when I test them for proper wiring. I used my meter and all three give me 120v. So all is good so far. However, when I test and "reset" the GFCI, the LED light flashes ONCE and the LED light states blank. NO GREEN LIGHT.

Has anyone else had this issue?

So Wiring is correct, all receiving 120v but the LED status light blinks ONCE at reset and is OFF BUT the devices are all working properly.

Defective?

UPDATE: 8/23/17: I spoke with a tech support representative last night at Leviton and I questioned the above statement. Per the tech, Leviton has "significantly" reduced the brightness of the LED status light and he recommended looking at the status light at NIGHT TIME and I did just that. The light is faintly green but it is functional and operating properly. Customers were complaining about the LED status light being TOO bright in their homes that was more of a distraction while siting in a darken room. Makes sense.

Also, the ONE BLINK of red status light the moment you reset the GFCI is NORMAL according to the representative that I spoke to.

Overall, I am happy with my purchase! Thanks!

1.0 out of 5 starsFaulty out of the box!
Reviewed in the United States on March 3, 2018
I’ve purchased a few of these with good results until this one. Bought this one to replace a 13 yr old GFI that would trip occasionally. Read the instructions and replaced my old one lead-for-lead. Green ‘test’ light on and no test/reset regardless of what I did. Put the old one back in and threw this unit in the trash. China QC (or lack, thereof) strikes again. Won’t be purchasing more of these.

4.0 out of 5 stars works fine but hard to install.

It works perfectly fine, however, the design of this product can makes you really confused when you install it. I wired it exactly same way as the old one, it had the green lights one but doesn't work. I got so confused because green lights suppose means works well. I did some search and figured out this brand have an opposite way to wire regards top and bottom, and green lights shows up before you reset it means you wired it wrong. Who did such kind of design that green lights means wrong????? I switched the top and bottom, reset it, the red lights turned on for a second and turns in green. Everything works perfectly after that. So green can mean works well and wire it wrong I guess? it is really confusing.

4.0 out of 5 stars Nice outlet, but seriously Leviton, you had to swap the line and load locations???
Reviewed in the United States on April 22, 2020

this is a nice outlet at a solid price. I had an existing GFCI outlet that would no longer reset, so I swapped it out for this one. Now, this was a primary circuit outlet nicely wired in by the builder of the house, so it has 7 solid copper wires going to it (3 hot, 3 neutral, 1 ground) all nicely wired in and bend and packed into the outlet box. Replacing this outlet should have been a simple "pull the receptacle out of the box, disconnect the wires, reconnect the wires to the new receptacle, and nestle it back into the outlet box". Instead, because Leviton decided to swap around the line and load locations, I had to unpack a nest of wires, wrestle them all around to fit the new locations, and then re-nest the bundle of seven wires back into the outlet box... and that was WAY more work than it should have been just to replace a receptacle. Seriously, Leviton, your hot and neutral are in the normal locations, your ground is in the normal location, but you had to switch around the line and load locations? If I have another GFCI go out, I'll probably pay a little more and get a receptacle that is laid out the same to make replacement easier/quicker... a few extra $$ is worth it to me for a quick and easy replacement.

4.0 out of 5 stars Decent, good for price, minor flaw

This could have been a five star product.
For start, it's the cheapest recognizable brand GFCI outlet I could find.
Second, its automatic self test function is a reassuring feature, and I have no reason to suspect that it isn't doing its job.
It's as simple to install as any GFCI, and its low profile leaves plenty of room in your outlet box for wiring.
The loss of a star, however, comes down to the front panel test switch.
Most GFCIs will simulate a ground fault to trip the outlet. This one does not.
It mechanically pushes the breaker into the trip position, relying on the outlet's reset self test functions to "test" it.
That's only worth one star though, as outlet testers that can simulate a ground fault are very affordable, but it doesn't inspire confidence.

4.0 out of 5 stars Line and Load are reversed
Reviewed in the United States on March 19, 2022

The outlet itself looks well made, I like the Levitron as the copper wire can be inserted behind the tightening screw. You do not have to struggle with bending the wire around the screw as on some on the other brands, it is easier to slide a straight wire behind the screws. As another person mentioned, the back of the switch is marked LOAD and LINE. The Load side should be where the power leaves the device. The Line side is the power coming from the Electrical Panel or incoming source of power. However, on the Levitron for some reason, you need to connect the line from the electrical panel to the Load side of the switch for it to work properly. The connections are reversed from what the industry standard is. Other than that, the switch itself seems to be of good quality. Industry standard: Line = power in / Load= power out. With Levitron the Load = power in / Line= power out.

4.0 out of 5 stars Not new?

This looks like a nice GFCI. Needed the slimmest one I can get for a surface mounted outlet. This did NOT have a faceplate included even though the description and the box both say it should. A bunch of scratches near the screws on the side and the sticker is missing that should be over the LOAD connections (I can see the residue where it was one there). This appears to be open/used/returned and not marked as so. It's not worth it to go through returning it so I will just deal with it as is. But that's disappointing.

4.0 out of 5 stars Easy Installation, Good Value
Reviewed in the United States on October 13, 2021

The Leviton GFNT1-I GFCI was used to replace an existing 15A duplex outlet. Installation took about 15 minutes.

The job is ideal for the typical DiY weekend warrior. Basic electrician tools are needed. If you need help/advice then watch some How-to GFCI installation videos on YouTube.

Other comments:
The GFCI's optional load side terminals can be used to protect slaved outlets. A matching face plate was provided. The front LED can be seen in daylight, but isn't excessive bright in a dark room.

4.0 out of 5 stars Reset Button needs to be pushed harder than expected to get it to work when first installed.
Reviewed in the United States on April 24, 2020

Received the outlet, read the instructions, and installed. Outlet did not work. I knew I did everything correct so I tried the test and reset buttons - nothing. I was getting ready to rip it out and in frustration I pushed the reset button (lower button) in as far as it would go and - it started working. I have other items with test and reset buttons that are easier to use. Normally when pressing a reset button the test button will pop out with a noise - this one no noise. Normally you would not need to push the reset button to get it to work the first time or need to push the reset button in a far as this one does. Otherwise I like the unit. 5 stars for the unit -1 star for appearing dead when first installed with a hard to use reset button. Just installed so I do not know how long it will last.

4.0 out of 5 stars Slightly tricky

I wired this as described in the instructions, but wasn't getting power. The test and reset buttons didn't work but the outlet showed a green light. Apparently if it shows a green light upon initial connection then it is wired wrong. In the end I swapped the line and load wires (top to bottom), and then the device worked as it should.

4.0 out of 5 stars It's a GFI, but not slim
Reviewed in the United States on November 22, 2021

Don't buy this because it says it's slim for the standard sized (almost to small for these) boxes in older houses. I compared it to another brand that failed. No difference in size. Oh, Leviton is having these made in china now, so they're probably no better than big box store house brands that are cheaper.

4.0 out of 5 stars well made, easy install

This is well made and seems quite heavy duty. Even heavy-gauge wire on a 20A circuit fits perfectly in the post slots.

My only complaint is that this has a matte finish and all of my other Leviton products have a glossy finish. So it doesn't match perfectly.

Note, this comes with a receptacle cover but it went straight in the garbage for me because I needed the oversized covers. I'd rather save money and buy the receptacle cover separately.
