5.0 out of 5 starsIt works for me!
Reviewed in the United States on October 19, 2019
I don't care for cereal with milk so I bought this with the intent to make bars out of it with melted mini marshmallows (like rice krispy treats) and I added pecans and chocolate chips for added flavor since cereals like this can tend to taste like the box they came in.

I didn't think to try the cereal before I made the bars so I can't comment on the flavor but the bars are delicious so if you dislike the fiber cereal taste it might help to know that it's really good this way. There was four cups of cereal and I used one cup of pecans and a cup of chocolate chips with one bag of mini marshmallows.

Short back story: I ate fast food from a restaurant chain and got the worst food poisoning I've ever had. It took three weeks before I could eat anything without having sharp stomach pains. The only thing I was able to keep down was white carbs like rice, potatoes, etc. So that's three weeks with no fiber whatsoever. I tried all the usual "make you go" remedies with very little success.

A friend jokingly suggested this cereal to me. I will ABSOLUTELY pay twelve dollars to poop normally again so I ordered some.

It got here, I made the bars, and I had a small 2x2 inch piece because I didn't want to do the full 1/2 cup serving. It just seemed wise to start out slowly.

That was mid afternoon yesterday. Nothing of note happened all evening and I went to bed hoping that by morning things would be better.

I woke up at 2:30 am feeling crampy and very nauseous. Do keep in mind that I had three weeks of, er...backlog to get out of my system so this was to be expected. It's just not going to be terribly comfortable as that stuff is moving through your insides. It was pretty brutal and I didn't feel much like a champion for a while there, but I got through it and finally at 4:12 am I was able to go. Nothing violent. Just a normal "go".

I went back to bed and when I got up this morning I went again immediately which was nice. Again, nothing violent. Just blissfully normal and productive.

I found this cereal to be highly effective for me and I'm going to cut the rest of the pan of bars into one inch squares, keep them in the freezer, and just have one each morning with my coffee.

I'm on a low carb diet, and I thought this would be a great cereal to try. The order arrived Saturday. I'd just finished a 2 mile walk - and I'd had a lot of water to drink as suggested in other reviews. I tried a bowl (1/2 cup) with almond milk and a little fruit. It tasted ok - nothing spectacular. More water. More walking. Nothing. More water. More walking. Nothing. I decided that another 1/2 cup bowl might work, so I had another 1/2 cup bowl that night for dinner. More water. More walking. Nothing. And then the cramps started. I was up all night with stomach cramps and gas. I had many "false alarms" throughout the night. But nothing. Based on what was happening in my stomach, I was almost afraid to fall asleep, but I finally did around 4 a.m.
The cramps were gone the next morning. I had a "normal" low carb breakfast of coffee, bacon and eggs. Nothing. We went shopping - did a lot of walking - nothing. We needed to make a quick run to Walmart, and as soon as I stepped in the door it hit me. I had to go. Like right then. Luckily, the restrooms were by the front entrance. I'd like to take a moment to express my deepest condolences to anyone that was in the other stalls in the restroom. It wasn't pretty. And I couldn't stop going. I remember thinking, "So this is how I'm going to die. In a Walmart restroom." When I finally returned to the store, my husband looked concerned.

I had 2 less traumatic movements later in the day, but I stayed close to home. I was NOT going to risk another emergency. After another crazy bowel movement this morning, I'm beginning to wonder if I've done permanent damage to my digestive system.

Bottom line - it works - you just may need to wait for it. DON'T eat more than recommended. You'll regret it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Apparently I've been pooping like an amateur all these years.

I am going to break this review up into sections based on the experience.

Impressions:
Looks: Looks like kibble.
Smell: Smells like musty cardboard.
Taste: Tastes like cheerios. with a hint of sweetness at the end. Honestly, completely inoffensive in the mouth, I was kind of shocked. I expected something heinous. Nope. Think plain cheerios with a hint of Kix (but minute the sweetness).

Did it work?
Oh. My. God. Look, you know how it is. You read all the funny reviews on Amazon, haha, and sometimes you give them a try. I joked and sent pics to my friends, we all had a good laugh. Friday night, I felt like a treat, and one of my friends suggested I try Poop Like A Champion, because it seemed like a Friday food and not a Sunday food (in case things went horribly, horribly wrong).

I could not argue with that logic. So I had a bowl. A real bowlful, I didn't measure it out. I filled the bowl to the top, then added whole milk and ate the whole thing. Annnnd...nothing. Little gas in the night, but whatever.

The next morning, I felt like I had a load but no pressure to go, so I didn't hurry anything. Had my morning coffee. Finally decided to give it a go.

Folks, I am not going to lie. Hand on my heart here. I was done within ten seconds. Let me be clear here- this was not a watery stool. It was not a log. It was just a soft creature that politely waited until I was ready, and then cleared out of the house the way parents wish their teens would- quickly, with no fuss, and cleaning up after themselves.

My eyes almost bugged out as I realized that I was completely done with my poop in seconds. I couldn't believe it. I stood up and hopped up and down a little bit, seeing how I felt inside. Nope. I was good. Didn't even have that stretched and strained feeling that you get when the load has been pushing the colon out. Just, fine.

I mean, I can't believe I am talking about this on the internet, but my god. I felt like the guys from Cobra Kai, thinking they were pretty good, had a handle on things, whatever, and then ran into Mr. Miyagi and learned what a true master was.

Price:Performance Ratio: I mean, this just worked. I've tried fiber one, I've added scoops of soluble fiber to my coffee in the mornings, I've done all kinds of things and I can't say it's made an appreciable difference, but I do it because it does no harm and potentially does some good. This is the first time I've felt like the fiber actually did a darned thing. So kudos to the company. That said, wow is this stuff expensive. At something over five bucks per bowl, that is awful darned hard to justify. I would happily buy a pillowcase of the stuff with a bulk discount. But at this pricepoint, I can not justify buying it regularly (no pun intended). That is why I knock off the star. And I hate to do that on the one and only fiber product to ever work, since I assume that it means that maybe it needs to be this expensive in order to get something to work. I don't know. But I hope and pray the company comes out with a bulk form to buy, because if they do, I will for the first time use an Amazon subscription for deliveries. Because this gives me my mornings back, and was amazing.

Final thoughts: Seems like a joke, but worked like a charm.

4.0 out of 5 stars Taste is good enough.

My first impression was that the bag this came in was rather small for the price of the cereal. Second was that this reminds me of the chow you buy for a puppy, chickens or a hamster. None of those things are terribly appealing after paying the price. However, it is hard to find an easy to eat cereal that is high fiber and low carb on the stores I frequent. It wasn't so when Atkins was all the rage 10 years ago... but they are hard to find now. And I recently had surgery and was required to up my fiber content...

I measured my 1/2 cup of chow (lol), added a packet of splenda and added enough Silk coconut milk. It is a perfectly edible cereal for those of us that miss the crunchy and wet feel of regular store bought cereal but are in a low carb/ketogenic/Atkins-like diet. Because 1/2 cup is a small portion and I ate it quickly it didn't have an opportunity to get soggy. The pellets are hard so I'm thinking you'd have to let it sit for a while for it to become mushy. I actually liked this cereal better mixed in with greek yogurt and splenda. That combination was so good that I will augment my rating to 3.5 stars and will average it to 4. It does have a lot of fiber as advertised and at least for me it is working. I am very likely to finish the bag but I am not sure I will re-order unless they lower the price.

The name is funny - but honestly they could change it to something less gross. Having the word POOP so big on a bag of something meant for human consumption makes me giggle, but may turn some people off.

4.0 out of 5 stars Simple taste, excellent amount of fiber, glad I got it.
Reviewed in the United States on April 4, 2019

The taste is simple, not sweet but also not bitter, just simple. I found it to be a light taste, kind of like gluten-free plain crackers. I have diet restrictions so I am used to my food not always tasting like it was made by angels. That being said, this ain’t bad for the large amount of fiber, I mean this is a lot of fiber for half a cup, friends! Those who complain about the taste should just buy some fiber caps or gummies and eat those all day. I cant help but roll my eyes at people who think food that delivers what their bodies need should taste like the junk food they are accustomed to (and got them here in the first place) then complain when it doesn’t?! This has a large amount of fiber and decent taste that is very easily sweetened with honey, stevia, fruit, or even sugar (if you must). Sure, Frosted mini wheats taste better but you would have to eat over 54 biscuits to equate to one half cup of this cereal and that’s only the dietary fiber, you’d make your stomach explode trying to match the soluble and insoluble!

This cereal is a tad pricey but there may be a reason for that so I can’t be too angry about it, tho it did bring my rating down one star.

Overall, you need fiber (and the good shit, not just ‘fiber’), this is it. You want it to taste like sugary junk food, this ain’t it. You’re welcome ;)

4.0 out of 5 stars Psyllium?

I am on a gluten free diet and was looking for a high fiber cereal I could use to make bran muffins. After posting a question here and receiving answers, I decided to try this product. The first trial I put 30 gms. in 1/2 cup milk and warmed it in the microwave for 30 seconds. Cereal remained whole and could not be mashed with a fork so into a food processor. Grind, grind, grind. After lengthy processing, was suitable to use. Second batch decided to try the food processor with dry cereal, same problem. I remembered from pre-GF days that I had similar problems with Kellogg's Bran Buds with Psyllium but not with regular Kellogg's All Bran. Is psyllium the problem? Don't know. Third trial tried placing dry cereal in plastic zipper bag and crushing with a rolling pin. Difficult but probably the best method. In all three batches the muffins turned out well but I did use more surgar than recipe called for and left out the salt. Not easy but do-able alternative.

4.0 out of 5 stars Worth it

Firstly, everyone should at least buy this once to take a picture with it.

Taste: I don't get the complaints on taste. It tastes like your standard bran/carby cereals. Which is why I like it a lot. Yeah, those cereals smell like cardboard but if you are on a very low-carb diet, this really helps give you that taste you might be missing but at a lower net-carb ratio.

How to Eat: I don't think this is intended to eat as a bowl of cereal. Rather, I use it to top off a different cereal I use. I been eating Magic Spoon which is a good Keto cereal. I put in 90% my main cereal and then 10% Poop Like a Champion. It really just gives my Keto cereal that extra carb taste I'm looking for. The flavor/smell leaks into the milk well too so every bite you're getting that good flavor to help mask the keto cereal flavor lol

Poop Results: I don't have anything super exciting to say. Some people are blatantly lying just for laughs which I think is unfair to the company. Let's say I definitely don't have to wipe as much because stuff is solid. Definitely drink water. You should be a bit more regular but fine if you eat it the way I do (described above).

Portion/Value: It is very expensive. But, I've compared it to a lot on the market and unfortunately, some decent competitors still put too much added sugar in their products. I will say this though, if a competitor our there simply just stops adding sugar to their similar product, yes I'd switch to that in a heartbeat. For now, this is the only thing on the market that works for my Keto needs. The portion is small but I really just use it to top-off my main cereal, so it takes me a while to finish it.

4.0 out of 5 stars It works for me but so do other products.
Reviewed in the United States on August 6, 2020

I was intrigued by the name of the product and the amusing reviews, so I decided to pull the trigger and get a box.

Up front I want to admit a few things: I didn't pay attention to the size of the box before I ordered, I don't care about Keto, gluten, carbs or any of that stuff. I just want to poop. This product delivers that basic function.

Observations:
- The box seems small and not much of the product is included. I use about 1/4 cup per day mixed with other cereals and it does the job for me. I have maybe enough left to get through 10 days total.
- The product doesn't have much taste. That's fine for me because I really don't like sweet cereals. I eat plain shredded wheat with raisins for breakfast most mornings. That's as sweet as I want my cereal.
- The little nuggets don't soften easily in milk. They remain chewy. If you heat it up with oatmeal they do soften up.

Since I don't really care about keto, carbs and gluten, and other products like Fiber One and Metamucil work just as well for me, I think this will probably be the only box I purchase. If you do have certain dietary restrictions, however, I believe this is a product you should try if you're tired of trying on the toilet.

4.0 out of 5 stars It does the job and can make any cereal "work for you"

This cereal is lightly sweet and mildly crunchy. While by itself, it doesn't taste half bad, I wouldn't dream of downing a bowl of just it. Instead, I've found it pairs nicely with my favorite cereals and probably will with yours as well.

I mix one part of PLAC (Poop like...) with three parts of either Frosted Flakes or Raisin Bran. The result is the cereal I like that's boosted to the next level in fiber content. This gets me the best of both worlds and stretches this somewhat expensive box of fiber pellets out over a longer period.

With a name like the one it has, how could I not buy it?! I of course was curious about it and was happy when the box arrived. I immediately tried it and was surprised by how not bad it tasted. It's not gonna be the greatest cereal you ever tasted, but it's not bad at all. The portion size suggested is small anyway so even if you hate it you only gotta have a little.

It should be noted that I was pretty regular in my movement before taking the cereal so I can't speak to how it works as a way to get things moving. I can say I made the championship though! I can also say there was a lot of flatulence later in the day. As far as it's intention I would say it definitely worked.

The only downside is the price. $12 for 8 oz is not a deal at all. If it were more affordable I would make it a regular purchase of mine. Since it's not I think I'll only buy it every few months or so.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great cereal, too expensive though
Reviewed in the United States on December 5, 2020
Size: 9 Ounce (Pack of 1)Verified Purchase
This is a really great cereal, that's just too expensive.

The cereal is very good, and doesn't have wheat which is great. It's made of corn bran, which I didn't know existed. As an adult of several years now, my flavor preferences changed to like milder and not sweet cereals. This cereal is just that, mild and not sweet.
There's various bran cereals on the market, I've tried the common ones at most grocery stores, and some that can only get shipped. Each has merits and different flavor. Some have a surprising amount of sugar even though they don't taste sweet, which I try to avoid. Some also have wheat as a main ingredient, and not just wheat bran. I try to avoid wheat as I seem to have developed a wheat sensitivity, it really messes with my digestive system. So I reduce my wheat intake (Wheat bran doesn't seem to trigger it like wheat flour does, still determining that though). Having a bran cereal that does not contain wheat itself is neat.

Although this cereal is probably the best bran cereal I've ever had, it's also quite expensive. As of this post the price hovers around $10 for 8oz, which is way too high. 8oz isn't much, just a few bowls of cereal (I don't obey recommended serving sizes because cereal servings are really small, and I think I got about 4 bowls' worth). Other bran cereals on the market are around $5 for about one pound, a much better deal, although they contain wheat usually. I don't feel like the price of this cereal is worth it, perhaps there's economy of scale issues to resolve or something. Hopefully the price is reduced in the future, they could probably grab a much larger market share.
