A pleasant surprise ...

I was so disappointed when these arrived because they had a shiny, almost satin, feel to them which was not what I expected at all from the description. I put in for a return, but was advised Amazon would credit my account with no need to return. This is one reason I rave about Amazon. So I threw the pillowcases in with my regular wash and after drying the pillowcases they were soft and lovely, exactly what I had thought they would be originally. So today I messaged Amazon customer service and told them to charge me back because now that I’ve washed them, I love my pillowcases. Be aware if you don’t like sateen pillowcases, a quick wash will make it right!

I bought 20 of these pillow cases for the rooms at my small motel. The fabric is somewhat thin and the side stitching on every, single case (all 20 of them) is crooked. Some are as much 1" off, from the top of the case to the bottom. Wish I'd checked prior to washing since I'm not sure we'll be able to use these for the motel. In any case, I'd definitely not purchase again, for any reason.

Ill-fitting: too narrow but long pillowcases

The pillowcases arrived with a strong unpleasant smell. I was prepared for that and washed them right away. However, these pillowcases do a terrible job fitting my king size pillow. The pillowcases are super long but very narrow. I got a workout wrestling these onto my pillows.

I ordered a set in navy and another in sea green. Despite the good material and beautiful colors, I’m returning both sets.

Narrow. Tight. Tedious pain in the fingers to get on.

I'm pretty young (37 male), and these are very difficult to get on. This is after removing some of the shredded memory foam from my pillows because I prefer them less thick.

If I were changing pillow cases once a month or week like I have in the past, I wouldn't get hung up on it. But as I'm changing pillow cases every other day to hopefully help with my rosacea and acne, it's a real pain.

And I'm not even using king pillows with these king pillow cases. I bought the kings for potential future compatibility. But Standard, Queen, and King pillow cases are all 20" from top to bottom. And these are barely 20" in one spot if i stretch that spot hard. I'm not sure how normal that is, or how much they may have shrunk. Or if it is generally recognized that the 20" measurement should be post-expected-shrinkage and without having to stretch the fabric.

I see that a few "oversize" 23" pillow cases are sold, but they're crazy expensive for some reason, and I've already spent money on a bunch of these. What a pain.

These feel a little too silky with just a touch of rough, like you'd expect from microfibers not from 100% cotton. Even the newer "silky cotton" sheets feel like sweet, soft, breathable cotton. These do not have that feel at all. I'm just not convinced these pillowcases are 100% cotton like the tag says. I don't do microfibers & feel gipped, left wondering if these damn pillowcases are truly cotton. I guess they're going back. You get what you pay for in this case.

Questionable material, very scratchy

I really am not sure if these are 100% cotton. They feel really scratchy and are kind of shiny, but don't feel like microfiber or straight up polyester.

I got these thinking that they would feel like the Amazon basics duvet cover that I got. These pillowcases are nowhere as soft and smooth. They don't feel like 400 thread count at all. They look all right but don't feel great which kind of defeats the purpose of bedding.

The only reason why I'm not throwing them out is because I figure I can use them in the guest room (sorry, guests) and I've already disposed of the packaging.

Skip the Amazon Basics pillow cases and switch to a slightly abrasive sand paper instead. I threw these away in exchange for Target’s Threshold brand. Remember when Amazon Basics used to be customer-centric? I’d love to see the margin on these. Source a softer cotton for your customers- we are willing to pay the extra dollar. Like, if I am buying a piece of fabric to lay my head on for hours each night, why on Earth would I choose THIS?

5 stars for the landfill rats, I’m sure these kept them warm.

1 star for any and all human consumption.

These weren’t terribly expensive, so I didn’t have high expectations, but I was still a little disappointed. The pillowcases have loose/ untrimed threads all over the seams, and one pillow has a small black stain- possibly a grease stain from the manufacturer. The stitching in the seams doesn’t seem to be very sturdy. Out of the box, it was already pulling apart a bit.

The fabric is supposed to be 100% cotton, and I trust that it is, but it’s a bit shinier and stiffer than I expected. I assume the stiffness will relax with a few washings. Compared to other 400 thread count pillowcases I have, the fabric is a bit thin. I can easily see my hand through it. It

What I like is the nice thick hem with the pleat. These pillow cases won’t become family heirlooms, but they are good enough to serve their purpose. The price isn’t bad, but I think you could get just as good or better quality pillowcases for the same price elsewhere.

I would have given 3 stars if it wasn’t for the stain.

Not white, needs ironing

I read another review that indicated these pillow cases weren't white, that they were an off white/cream. I should have believed it and skipped this purchase because I wanted true white to match white sheets. After washing (with another set of true white pillow cases) these new cases came out wrinkled and the others didn't. The satin sheen didn't dissipate after washing, like another review said they did. They're not soft to the touch, either, after washing. I'll wash again and see if they soften up. Unfortunately, I bought 6 (3 sets). I may return the unopened packages.

Fell Apart after a few months of use

You get what you pay for. I got these as the price was attractive. They look and feel good and serve their purpose. But they started to unravel after a few months of use and washes. I tend to wash my bedding at least weekly and after 3 or 4 months, these started to get ragged. I have a set of K-Mart sheets that are 15+ years old and these pillow cases look way worse than those when I use them.

I'd recommend looking at other options before buying these if you're looking for something that will last.

Cheap cotton, but it does the job

It’s an inferior cotton with a short staple length. It’s a bit scratchy and cheap feeling. But it does the job. We ordinarily buy Wamsutta high thread count sheet sets, and their fabric is thick, soft, cool and luxurious - long staple cotton. But I exude oil and yellow our pillows and pillow cases. I was looking for something inexpensive for me while others in the home get to enjoy the lux Wamsutta. This fit the bill, though there’s a reason this is cheaper than Wamsutta... inferior quality.

Sateen cotton not percale

I am disappointed. wish they put “sateen” in the title somewhere instead of in tiny words hidden below. If you’re looking for cool crisp feel, don’t get these. Had they mentioned in the title they’re sateen i never would’ve bought them. didn’t see any issues with the stitching on my pillow cases. Won’t buy these again. I’m just gonna repurpose these into something else or let the dogs use them because i ain’t sleeping with them they feel cheap. For some reason it’s not letting me attach a photo but I have side by side comparing how shiny these pillow cases look
