5.0 out of 5 starsREAL muesli, European style, not sugar coated
Reviewed in the United States on July 19, 2021
I've bought this product through different companies for over 6 years, Amazon's prices generally the best. I used to travel Europe a lot and was dismayed by not having the muesli offered daily. I tried replicating the product but was cost prohibitive. Bob's Red Mill quality is superb and consistent, year after year. Whether eating it hot or cold, the crunching of the sunflower seeds, silvered almonds, different whole grains give little explosions of distinct flavor, along with the raisin's and date's sweetness rounding out pure goodness and delight in every bite. Using this muesli, one of my favorite warm and quick go to: Hot Apple Pie Crumble: 1/2 cup muesli in microwave bowl, a heavy sprinkle of cinnamon covering the muesli, 1/2 cup unsweetened applesauce on top-swirl with spoon, pour 1/2+ cup vanilla soy milk to cover. Cover, put in microwave 1 1/2 minutes, let set 1 minute. Heavenly, Healthy and Quick! (you can use any milk just add a splash of vanilla). I recommend this muesli for any meal or dessert. Buy the box, you'll be surprised how quickly you'll need more!

3.0 out of 5 starsGreat product. Huge price jump.
Reviewed in the United States on May 13, 2018
This has been our household breakfast cereal for several years -- we used to buy two cases at a time (a case contains 4 x 40 oz. bags).
Delicious, healthy, and the bags are resealable, so you don't have to put it in another container after opening (although it looks good in a glass jar!).
However, for years we paid about $27 for the case (160 oz.) and now the price is $41. Even inflation can't account for this price jump.
I'll get a similar bag at our local Whole Foods for about $8-$9. I'm lucky I can do that. Feel bad for those who can't. Why is it so much more expensive on Amazon than at Whole Foods? Especially if you choose to buy in bulk?? I might understand $32 to match the Whole Foods price (but it should still reflect a bulk discount,)but $41??? Oh well... Any chance the price will go down on this item?

5.0 out of 5 stars Sticking with Bob's Red Mill, not going back to 7 Sundays Almond & Date Muesli
Reviewed in the United States on January 18, 2020
Style: ResealableSize: 2.5 Pound (Pack of 4)Verified Purchase
After having ordered and eaten 8 bags of 7 Sundays Almond & Date Muesli (had rated them 5 stars, but now should be 4.5 stars), I was ready for my next subscribe and save shipment - only to have been notified by Amazon that it wasn't in stock/not sure when they will have more. Thus, I gave Bob's a try. GLAD I DID.

Bob's set of 4 bags are priced basically the same per oz. as 7 Sundays. While 7 Sundays is higher in protein, Bob's is lower in sugar etc. (take a look at nutrition label on both). Taste is about the same, but a big noticeable difference in Bob's that I like is that the entire bag basically is filled with whole pieces of oats etc. while 7 Sunday's bag had more broken pieces and a lot of fine saw dust looking bits at the bottom of the bag - making for a somewhat more mushy bowl of muesli as a little is poured into your bowl everyday. Definitely going with Bob's - not sure why Bob's is not available as a Subscribe and Save item.

3.0 out of 5 stars Raisins, Raisins, Raisins
Reviewed in the United States on August 1, 2020

I wouldn't be surprised if a 40 oz. bag of this competitively priced product weighed 25 oz. or so were the raisins removed. I do eat this cereal cold mixed with a crunchy breakfast product, strawberries, and almond milk. But for my taste this muesli contains way too many high-calorie sweet raisins. So I measure half a cup of the Bob's muesli, scatter it over crunchy oat nuggets, and pick out fifteen or twenty of the raisins for the trash can. That leaves a tasty, healthier breakfast instead of dessert. It's an annoyance, however, to go raisin-picking (tra-la, tra-la) every day. If the muesli made by Alpen (which has far fewer raisins) were less expensive, I'd stick with that product, which tastes pretty much like Bob's Red Mill's sans the excess of raisins. BUT I recognize that there are folks who love raw oysters. And there are more delicate others who think that swallowing gray snot on a shell is . . . . Gahhh! I don't want to think about it! Different strokes for different folks.

5.0 out of 5 stars THIS Muesli tastes the same as what I ate when I grew up in Switzerland

I have tried so many brands of oatmeal always feeling I was eating cardboard, no matter the recipe. I am from Switzerland and when I decided to try this Muesli I didn't have much hope but when using their 1/2 cup yogurt to 1/4 cup Muesli cereal and overnight in the fridge I found again THE BEST TASTING CEREAL from my youth. I am now a lifetime customer.

5.0 out of 5 stars MY FAVORITE DAILY BRUNCH & SNACK
Reviewed in the United States on February 21, 2021
Style: ResealableSize: 2.5 Pound (Pack of 4)Verified Purchase
I make quite a daily concoction with this wonderfully delicious, nourishing, and for the most part, nearly fat-free daily meal. For myself, I use 1/4 to 1/3 cup of Bob's Old Country Style Muesli, to which I add one or two eggs and skim milk. After microwaving that for about 3.5 minutes, I add Greek yogurt, unsweetened applesauce, one teaspoon of my own mixture of raw organic cinnamon-ginger-cocoa powders, and a bit of any flavor of sugar-free Torani syrup for sweetness. Most folks would think this might sound positively gross, but believe me, it is pure heaven, and I eat it every single weekday at noon as my BIG MEAL. Hubby loves it with skim milk, an egg, extra raisins, a dash of the added cinnamon-mix, and sweetened with YS Eco Bee Farms raw organic honey. -- Later in the day or early evening, we snack on it right out of the bag like a trail mix. Hot or cold, this stuff is scrumptious - and addictive. How we would love to add M&Ms to the bag for a sweet and salty thing, but that's all we would need to defeat the entire purpose of sticking to a pure healthy and low-cal snack. We buy the 40-oz bags by the case of 4 when it's on sale here at Amazon, which costs six-ninety-eight per bag - the best price anywhere for this amount. Simply the best.

It's very good muesli (although the sugar content is on the high side). However, like other Bob's Red Mill products on Amazon, it is now too expensive. I'll buy more only if the price comes back down to near what it used to be.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great tasting and #1 rated cereal for nutrition. Bob's Red Mill A++++

Excellent breakfast food and yogurt parfait topping :-)
Rated #1 by Consumer Reports, it's healthy and tasty without being boring.
Has excellent nutrition, fiber, low sugar and feel good about eating it both cold and hot.

I buy the 4 pack when it's on sale.

Worst thing about product = serving size = ¼ cup. LOL.

Doesn't taste so good that I feel like binge-eating the whole bag. This is a good thing.
Other less healthy "natural" sugary cereals are binge-worthy and a health-hazard in my cupboard.

5.0 out of 5 stars Favorite Cereal

Extremely tasty without added sugar. The dates add a nice touch of sweetness/flavor. Best eaten cold with milk, IMO.

When you break down the actual cost/weight, this is actually cheaper than most grocery store cereals. Standard cereals are generally around 11 ounces for the regular size. That means this is the equivalent of around 14.5 regular boxes of cereal.

Do yourself a favor and switch to this if you are eating grocery store cereal. Nowadays most cereals at the grocery store have stunning amounts of added sugar. Most granolas have even more added sugar than Lucky Charms. More and more research is showing how detrimental this is to health. This has no added sugar and, IMO, tastes better than most grocery store cereals anyway. If you prefer it sweeter, you can always add some honey or fresh fruit which are both much healthier than the processed sugar in most cereals.

5.0 out of 5 stars I had no idea how much I liked muesli until I tried this product !

This has become my favorite breakfast, and even sometimes for a light evening meal. I follow most of the Bircher-Benner method, with a chopped up apple, and I use either kefir or yogurt and a little sweetener. I really like adding a few frozen blackberries in with my apples when I chop them in the food processor, and it adds more flavor and color to the cereal.

I had tried muesli before, but was somehow expecting something more like granola, and didn’t like it. Then I tried cooking it like you would oatmeal, and it is great for a hot cereal, and more flavor than plain oatmeal has.
I read about the Bircher-Benner muesli, made with soaking the raw oats and adding an apple, so I tried that. An overnight soak was too long for me, but I make it in the morning and eat it after about a 15 minute soak with the yogurt and apple.
Another thing that I do with this , is to add it when I am making any kind of cake , and it adds a lot more healthy fiber. I am now on my second 4-pack of 40 oz per bag, so I am using about 2 bags per month between everything that I use it for.
