It is a good instant yeast that works exactly as expected.

I would not say there is anything special about this yeast, other than it works perfectly. It does what it is supposed to and tastes right. I can also say it makes good pizza dough and breads. In my opinion it compares one to one with Fleischmann's and Red Star instant active dry yeasts.
I feel I should note that while it came in a nicely vacuum sealed package that I'm sure would keep it fresh for a long time, that package is no good for storage once you open it. I put the contents in a couple 16oz. amber Ball mason jars to help keep it fresh in the refrigerator. I have not had it long enough to say how well that works, but I think it was a good idea. Adequate yeast. However it was supposed to be ONE POUND 448 grams. I received 413 grams including packaging. The seller said if i had not given this a poor review (which never posted) they would have made an adjustment; BUT since i gave it a poor review they would NOT. F them!!!!!

I baked baguettes for the first time last May using Saf Instant Yeast. It came out beautifully! Since the pack is not resealable, I kept it in a Ziploc bag, in the fridge as instructed. Since then I've tried again 3 more times, using exactly the same recipe. The 2nd time, the baguettes rose a little, but the 3rd and 4th times, they did not rise at all. I checked the pack and expiration date says 01-22 so I don't know why it no longer works.

I bake bread every week. This is my 2nd 1-Pound package of SAF Instant yeast and I've never had a problem with it. If anything, it works too fast. I've found that I can decrease the yeast in a recipe by 25% by using this yeast. I've used it with banana dough, chocolate dough, all types of flours. I do keep it in the freezer and I also proof it before mixing it with all other ingredients ~ just to be sure.

Since the pandemic began, I have been unable to buy yeast at my local supermarkets. For months the spaces where yeast should be are depressingly empty. Finally ran out of my jar of yeast and was panicking. Not about to pay those gouging prices for a simple 3 pack strip No way. Saw this brand, which I had never heard of and though it is much more than I usually buy, I know I will use it within a year. After reading the reviews, I took a deep breath and ordered it. And now, several perfect loaves of bread later, I'm glad I did. It is vacuum packed like coffee, so it does feel hard as a brick, but once the seal is broken, like coffee, it pours easily. Just be sure to keep it in an airtight container away from light. You won't be sorry with SAF. I may never go back to my old brand again!
