My healthy herb garden

They are growing beautifully! The cilantro takes the longest to appear. I use filtered, fluoride free water in a spray bottle (it came with my mushroom kit from Back to the Roots). I spritz the leaves and stems several times a day, they seem happy. There is an LED light over them because of the north window, it seems to give off enough daylight for growth. Also the sprouts from the basil and mint were separated into pudding cups, as shown in photo, to allow more room. Several seeds were in each labeled packet for later use and the instructions were clear. Highly recommended!

Did not grow, sprouted mushrooms, disappointing

My basil and mint plants never grew, I made sure they were in a sunny (but not full sun all day) spot and watered but not over watered. I emailed a woman who promptly said they would send me new seeds. I never received them, it’s been about a month. In the meantime, my cilantro grew but after about a week or so mushrooms began to sprout. I googled this and it said it’s most likely a soil issue. Very disappointing

Due to the mixed reviews on here, I wasn't sure if I wanted to buy this kit or not since I've had bad luck with growing kits that have those little pads of soil in them. This soil is great. The soil comes in pre-packaged cans, kind of like soup cans, and have pop off lids.
You just wet the soul, add seeds, mix gently, and wait!
I am one day shy of two weeks and I have little mint and basil guys poking their heads out! My cilantro started three days ago. Right now, I have my plants on my double paned window sill and I keep my house at 68° (I live in the desert).
I am not always home every day, and I'm sure my husband has forgotten to water them on the days I marked on the calendar, but it looks like I'm going to still have a cute little window garden to enjoy, until it is time to transplant them!

I like this product, but I don't know if I like getting it through Amazon vs local pickup. The garden kit was shipped via Amazon hand-off to USPS and in a bubble wrap envelope. It arrived with the packaging torn and crunched up, and loose dirt in the envelope. The contents inside were fine, but if I had ordered this as a gift, this would have been no good. If it had been boxed and 1-carrier delivery, it would have arrived in better condition. The kit itself is pretty cool, simple design. Three sealed and labeled cans of dirt, three seed packets, a full-color instruction card, and a little printout of the company's origin/mission statement/charity efforts. So, my opinions: I'm not a big fan of the can planters aesthetic-wise, but my 15 year old tells me this is in style right now, and you could always decorate the cans or line them up in a long decorative basket. The herbs included are mint, basil, and cilantro. I would like to see other options. These 3 herbs don't go together, and I rarely use basil. I would have liked to see a set like "Italian," with the basil and other like-herbs, like oregano. The mint would make more sense with other "dessert" herbs, like lavender and lemon balm. Maybe parsley, chive...I hope they expand this line. The shipping issues aside, this is a good beginner's kit (I know mint and cilantro are prolific, easy growers,) and would make a nice classroom, hostess, or new gardener gift.

LOVE this little growing set!! The directions were super clear and easy to follow and they look so cute by the window in my kitchen. This is probably my 5th product from Back to the Roots because their stuff is so reliable and easy to use. It's also so nice saving money on herbs by having these cans and growing herbs in my own kitchen! Bonus: the package came way earlier than expected and it had a little coloring book/recipe book included!

Understand that there are several negative review for this product but you need take several points into this before making a purchase. Is the other negative review taking care of the plant as it should be? This is the same question i ask myself before making a purchase. The packaging came nicely to our doorstep. The packing look cheerful with very pretty design. The instructions is superly simple and no matter what the instructions gave, u still need to take an extra care with the plan. It has been 5 days now and i can see several sprouts are coming out. It is reall a good science experiment for my kids and they really enjoy it.

Easiest way to grow an herb garden inside!

I’ve always start herb gardens outside but they never survive due to over watering or they just don’t last because it get dried out. This fall season I purchased the Back to the Roots Herb Garden kit to grow herbs indoor.

It’s like the easiest system to start growing herbs because all I did was unpack the 3 canisters, removed the lid, add water, sprinkle the seeds in and then lightly cover up them in the soil.

I can hardly wait to see the herbs grow and get to use my herbal bounty in the fall months.

I would recommend that when you receive your Amazon package with this kit is to look throughly to make sure everything is out of the bag. The 3 seed packets moved to the top of the box and one of the seed packets slipped out and found inside the Amazon shipping bag. Again, make sure to check or you’ll be disappointed if one of the seed packets get thrown out.

I love planting and watching things grow. My small apartment is full of wonderful plants. Just added these nice herbs to the decor 😀 and because these are edible having them to be EBT eligible is a plus. Nice packaging, easy instructions and a great project to do with kids. Also fun for grown-ups. Can't wait to harvest and enjoy. UPDATE: May 22, 2022 My herbs are not growing 😢 I purchased tomatoes and planted same day. Nothing seems to be happening with my herbs.

This is such a fun product. My niece and I opened it together and we had a great time planting the seeds while I taught her about how plants grow. The package came undamaged with just a tiny bit of dirt that had leaked out of the cans (there's two little holes in the top of the cans). There was probably only less than a half a teaspoon of soil that spilled out into the box. No big deal!
I will definitely be thinking about ordering more for secret santa exchange at work or for my sister for her kitchen window sill.
