I bought a watch for my nephew for Christmas 2018 along with the 4 year protection plan. He is in his 30s, has special needs and treasured the watch. Recently the watch band broke and my sister-in-law (my nephew's mother) sent in the watch for repair/replacement but she received an email saying I needed to log into my Amazon account to verify I was the buyer, which I did. I got an email saying I needed to log into Asurion to complete the claim, which I did. I then got a message I needed to telephone Asurion customer service, which I did.
Asurion still had no record of a claim being filed and had no idea where the watch is located. I got cut off so I called back and got another Asurion rep who said that Square Trade had taken over all the protection plans and he would transfer me to them. After a long time, the rep came back on the phone and said he would need to transfer me to Amazon first. Finally a computer answered and I could never get to talk to a person because it couldn't understand that the number it looked like I was calling from was an Asurion number, not the telephone number on my Amazon account which it would not permit me to enter. I finally decided I had wasted enough time (a couple hours) on this and concluded it was easier to just buy my nephew a new watch. I won't be wasting any more money on Amazon protection plans and I am surprised that Amazon has not been more helpful.
