Perfect for a Keto Dressing!

I bought this with fingers crossed, hoping it would work for the bread in the dressing for our first Thanksgiving on Keto. This far exceeded our expectations!

I made the bread, exactly as directed, the day before & let it cool completely in the pan, turned it out whole onto a sheet of parchment paper and sliced into crouton sized pieces. Of course, we had to taste test it! My husband's comment was " You have to buy more of this". (He love's making chili.) I used a dressing recipe that has you bake the dressing in a single layer on sheet pans, and it came out perfect!

Now I need to buy more.

Soluble Corn Fiber

I bought this excited to try as all the other mixes have been great. I realized after I bought this that they have added Soluble Corn Fiber. Corn is terrible for people with Celiac disease as we can react to it in the same ways as gluten...not to mention corn is an extremely inflammatory grain. Very disappointing.

I'd like to start by stating that "Keto" Anything is not bound to taste as good as regular food. Remember why we are on keto. Whether its because we ate too much regular food or it falls in line with health or body goals, we chose keto. So this does not taste like amazing cornbread your mom baked that you can eat all day.

So I am on keto and to maintain the ketogenic state I need to stay within 20 to 30 carbs within a day. So while I know this cornbread is not gonna taste like real cornbread I want something that is somewhat decent for the amount of carbs I’m about take in.

I am going to do a basic comparison of HighKey Keto Snacks Baking Mix & Low Carb Cornbread
vs. Good Dee’s Corn Bread Baking Mix

HighKey Keto Snacks Baking Mix & Low Carb Cornbread:
This cornbread was okay. I had no trouble making this mix. The instructions on the back were straight forward and my only extra additions were a few drop drops of “Cornbread extract flavor”. The batter was a little sweet and seemed a bit grainy. It cooked just fine and was nice and fluffy.

Good Dee’s Corn Bread Baking Mix:
This cornbread was a bit more dense. I was surprised by how moist it was but how it kept it shape and I was able to cut it. The instructions were straight forward and my only extra additions were a few drop drops of “Cornbread extract flavor”. However this batter was less sweet and cooked just fine.

So once both were cooled, I tried both cornbreads. To me the flavor of Good Dee’s Corn Bread Baking Mix is closer to a real cornbread and is more enjoyable. I think as someone on keto I really appreciate that it actually taste like real food because so much of the food that I’m eating is not necessarily as flavorful. However, the consistency of the Highkey Cornbread could be considered better. I say this because the Highkey cornbread was grainy and so I felt it mimicked the texture of cornmeal that normally is in cornbread. If that texture is a must then the Highkey cornbread might be for you. However, the Highkey cornbread was also much sweeter and as someone who prefers savory cornbread this wasn’t enjoyable for me. Good Dee’s Corn Bread was amazing for keto. It actually tastes like cornbread. No it doesn’t have the gritty cornmeal texture but the springiness of the cornbread and the texture was closer to regular cornbread and aside from that it was just tastier. I found myself looking forward to my daily portion. I threw out the highkey cornbread.

To me the flavor of the Highkey cornbread was really basic, not really strong and not something I necessarily would buy again. I did like the fluffiness of the cornbread and I like that it had cornmeal texture but the flavor just wasn’t there for me and technically I seasoned both corn breads as I made them. I wont purchase the Highkey cornbread again.

I will purchase the Good Dee’s Corn Bread again because it was pretty good and I’m looking forward to making it again. I think it is expensive but worth it and I hope you will enjoy it as well.

Tastes amazing and it's simple to make!!

I'm so happy I tried out Dee's after hearing rave reviews about it from the keto community. I no longer eat bread since I am on a low carb and zero sugar lifestyle. I mainly consume proteins, fats, and minimal carbs a day. It has been great but there are times when you'll just like a replacement for bread, cookies, etc.

In my case, this occured during Thanksgiving which is why I purchased the corn bread mix. Almond flour is the best alternative in my opinion but there are recipes that unfortunately fall through and end up being disappointing. They are also at times needlessly complicated as well which is where Dee's come in. This is really a foolproof mix and it tastes DELICIOUS--just like a loaf cake. You can definitely add to it and make it your own. I've eaten mine with butter and cream cheese so far, yum!! I added a tablespoon of maple extract and pyure stevia and it was (delightfully) mild. Not really sweet. So depending on how sweet you'll like your bread, I highly suggest adding a bit more if you want to go that route. The only downside to this is that the price is pretty high for me to make it a regular purchase. I hope Dee's becomes big enough to purchase at a lower cost.

I was diagnosed with PCOS which means no sugar, no gluten, no dairy. Bye bye dreams of garlic bread or grilled cheese. Then I found this! Thank you. It may not look like traditional bread but tastes amazing. My only wish is that it would lower in price. A bit expensive.

I've tried many pre-made keto breads and some were disappointing or tasted more like cake. I also missed freshly baked bread. I was hesitant to purchase this but did anyway. It is the best tasting keto bread I have tried, even more so with Kerry Gold butter! I am also glad I read the reviews as one reviewer mentioned the yeast packet inside (I looked for it when I opened the bag and added it to the mix). I opted to make the dinner roll recipe. They turned out great and resembled the biscuits serve at Red Lobster. Next time, I will add a light sprinkle of garlic and onion powder, fresh parmesan cheese and chives to see if I can turn them into cheesy biscuits. Wonderful! Will purchase again.

If you want a Keto Biscuit, look elsewhere. Baked these in an oven set to temp. At minimum time they were dark golden brown. Any longer, they'd be unacceptably dark brown. The flavor was fine but the insides were sticky. By day 2 the insides had become gummy. Day 3? I will try microwaving to see if they're palatable. If not, they're expensive garbage. Look at other reviews. Multiple people complain about sticky texture.

I'm an experienced Keto baker who has used various types of high-fiber, low-carb flours. They tend to darken easily. This mix uses 2 eggs... so there's too much moisture and the corn fiber is probably what causes outside to darken so quickly. Trying to bake these longer to overcome the sticky/gummy issue would result in an end result that is too dark. I can think of multiple fixes for this... but the problem is this mix and its current ingredients.

Dee needs to read the reviews and fix the problem and reformulate this. Buy her Cornbread Mix. It's good, has consistent results. This Cracker Biscuit, while slightly crunchy on the outside when fresh out of the oven, is dense and sodden inside. Not flaky like a biscuit nor does it even have a nice crumb like a muffin.

I don’t know if I would necessarily call it bread because then you’ll be disappointed. It’s almost like a hybrid between bread and a non sweetened pound cake. You really taste the almond. I cut very thin slices and toasted them with havarti and it was delicious. I tried to make a grilled cheese, not great but maybe more cheese would do the trick. We also tried it as a supplement for a burger bun - not awful but we both opted for bun less burgers nonetheless. Don’t think we’ll purchase again but it wasn’t a complete fail

Yummy Corn Bread!

The true testament is if it passes my husband's taste test. He doesn't follow a keto diet or any diet for that matter and can get away with eating whatever he wants. But since I cook in the house, I decided to give this a try to accompany a keto chili I had made for us. The corn bread is amazing. The flavor is spot on and the texture - OMG! I've been having a hard time finding a mix that is keto friendly and gluten free that doesn't taste like card board. This mix is fluffy and light and is so yummy especially with a big of Kerry's gold butter a top a slice. This is the third time trying Dood Dees. I've tried her brownie mix (YUMMY) and her coconut snack cake (YUMMY). I've been super happy with all so far and look forward to baking my way through the entire line of her treats.
