BEWARE, while attractive, the design of this boot is very cheap and impractical. For one, the shoestring eyelets are made of very thin suede. On roughly the 4th wear, one of the suede eyelets ripped, leaving the shoe unwearable. Other versions of this boot have metal eyelets, which are significantly more durable. Second, previous versions of zerogrand hiking boots had three eyelets on the ankle section of the boot, providing more ankle support and allowing jeans to cover the ankle portion of the boot. This boot only has two eyelets, which provides zero ankle support and causes the boot to spread out at the top, making the boot spread out at the top and look goofy. Third, that these boots are described as "waterproof" is laughable--the design of these boots makes them unwearable for even limited outdoor activities. Finally, don't bother calling Cole Haan if you have problems with the boot. They don't stand behind their products. Amazon's 30-day return policy is similarly inadequate considering you could order the same shoe from Zappos (amazon's wholly-owned subsidiary) and have a 365-day return period.
