How customer reviews and ratings work

Customer Reviews, including Product Star Ratings help customers to learn more about the product and decide whether it is the right product for them.

To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyzed reviews to verify trustworthiness.

4.0 out of 5 starsGood tips
Reviewed in the United States on June 4, 2021
I enjoy the show and the gardening tips for sure. I gave it four stars rather than five because there’s really a lot of agenda-based propaganda sprinkled in🙄🤦🏻‍♀️. I guess that’s true of most shows. But overall the hosts are great and it’s put together very well.

2.0 out of 5 starsVERY Disappointed.
Reviewed in the United States on May 10, 2020
Forget about those "tips" they promised. This is gardening at it's most basic, except for the expensive raised beds they use to grow all their vegetables. Watching someone plant plants that are already several inches high is no help. The really important information, like using grow covers, what kind of fertilizer to use, how to protect them from insects, what the soil ph should be, how much water and sun it will need, IS NOT INCLUDED. What you get is some people who are really long winded digging holes and planting seeds or well established, already hardened off plants. They mention a few varieties, but no reasons as to why they selected that variety. Anyone who would find these videos informative has probably never had a garden before. I'm so disappointed. Had really high hopes for this series due to the description, but fails to deliver.

5.0 out of 5 stars Lovely and helpful

Really great guide to growing that simplifies it rather than bogging it down with too many "tricks of the trade" -- they address when to sow or plant, what to expect along the way, and how to use the veggies. In between there are mini shows where the hosts show what people are doing to make a cultural change to cleaner greener food -- or mini lessons on planting an small orchard :)
I will likely rewatch.

5.0 out of 5 stars Just love this show and hosts
Reviewed in the United States on May 25, 2020
After a 20yr hiatus from gardening, my husband and I have built a huge, raised bed garden. When we got everything in the ground, I found this wonderful show and binge watched it over 2 weeks. The hosts are adorable, and they give lots of tips about how to prepare soil, companion plants, etc. They also have segments in each show talking with businesses that are making a difference with sustainability, composting, buying local, and more. I hope they have many more seasons of this delightful show. I've ordered Michael's book and signed up on the GIY website for updates (where you can also buy some of the seeds that they plant on the show). If you are an organic gardener, I highly recommend this show.

Love, love, love!! We just watched the entire season in one day. So many great tips for growing. But I loved the segments on community involvements. Just fabulous. Can't wait until season 2!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Content and Engaging
Reviewed in the United States on March 31, 2020
The titles to the episodes are misleading, but the content makes up for the typos. The hosts are knowledgeable and informative. They are also entertaining and the dishes look very appetizing. Worth watching a few times to get all the notes. Looking forward to more seasons if they were made.

If you've never had a garden before this show is extremely helpful. If you are looking for really deep, scientific information, you will not find it here. However, I learned enough from this show to save almost all of the plants in my first garden from dying and they are now all thriving. There is enough information in each show to get you successfully started in a garden. Personally, I love the banter between the hosts. I highly recommend this show and, on a side note, it might make you really want to visit Ireland.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great easy to watch show
Reviewed in the United States on April 20, 2020
Great show that caters to lay people. I personally love the interaction, because who wants to watch a dry show about dirt and plants? Without her, it would be dry. Without him, it wouldn't be informative and feel authentic. Also, great mini-stories in each show. I hope this show continues. If you want straight dry gardening tips, try the popular streaming service. If you want something that informative and entertaining, try this show.

Wow... fascinating, fun, and super informative. My college age daughter has taken a new interest in gardening and healthy growing alternatives to try at home and this show was an excellent learning and motivating guide. She and her dad are working on their garden already.

5.0 out of 5 stars Season 1 no longer free to watch!?
Reviewed in the United States on September 28, 2020
I like this show. I’ve been watching it for over a year. Now I went to watch season 1 and it’s no longer free. You have to pay for it! I mean really this is just too much to take. I guess Amazon can do whatever they want to, rake in the money and screw the customer. Five stars for the show, 3 stars for Amazon cause seasons 2 & 3 are still free. Keep this up Amazon and I will cancel my subscription.
