How customer reviews and ratings work

Customer Reviews, including Product Star Ratings help customers to learn more about the product and decide whether it is the right product for them.

To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyzed reviews to verify trustworthiness.

5.0 out of 5 starsGreat mouse
Reviewed in the United States on June 11, 2020
A while ago my USBs stopped working and rendered both my keyboard and mouse inoperable. The mouse was not working at all and the keyboard was sporadic and a pain to navigate. So I ordered this PS/2 mouse to plug into the PS/2 input. Although it doesn't have all of the features of my old MS mouse, it works and that has eased my mind considerably.

3.0 out of 5 starsNot that great for the price - and apparently has gremlins inside
Reviewed in the United States on August 12, 2020
I bought this to use on a vintage laptop with a PS/2 port. This looked like an OK mouse, but has some annoyances. First, if I plug it in before turning on the computer, after booting up, the cursor jumps randomly all around the screen, and sometimes "clicks" on anything on the screen. Makes me think it has some sort of a "gremlin" inside. This means I have to unplug it, and then plug it back in. An older mouse (which broke) worked fine on the laptop, so I can tell it's the mouse and not the PC.

Also, the mouse isn't super ergonomic - to me, it almost feels like you have to "flatten" your hand to use it. Thus, it wouldn't be good for long-term use. For tinkering with old hardware, though, it's decent. On the plus side, once you get it working, it has smooth optical tracking, and the buttons are nice and responsive while requiring just the right amount of pressure.

5.0 out of 5 stars Worked on my old DEC Alpha (and old HP Core2 PC)
Reviewed in the United States on March 8, 2022

I got this because I needed a mouse for my DEC Alpha (personal workstation 433a), I still have Windows NT 4 on the beast so I needed something to work with it as the various USB to PS/2 adapters did not work. This mouse worked very well (well enough I'm ordering another tonight and a backup just to be safe). Had no trouble booting up into Windows and never any trouble using it, scroll mouse worked just fine.

I also have plugged it into an old HP Core2 small form factor PC (sorry not sure the model, but it is old enough it still says "HP Compaq" on the front under the HP logo) and booted into 64-bit HaikuOS and it actually worked where my USB MS comfort mouse 4500 did not. So to me proves the PS/2 port sometimes is just one of those things that "just works" when USB fails you.

5.0 out of 5 stars perfect

With the advent of laser mice the red LED optical mice fell into an unwarranted disuse. Red LED mice are in fact the most precise and least technically complex (and therefore cheap and reliable). I wired my new mouse and my old and amazing Compaq PS2 keyboard into a Monoprice USB to dual PS2 adapter (Amazon product ID B00IACID2C) yielding the most frustration-free setup that I've ever used. Both mouse and PS2 adapter are highly recommended.

This mouse works with my Gigabyte EP45-UD3P
(rev. 1), 8 year old, motherboard, running Windows 10. My homemade desktop PC crashed and my USB keyboard and mouse would not work with the Bios and Windows 10 recovery. This mouse allowed me to recover Windows 10 and save the day with the "reinstall Windows 10 and keep your data" option in Windows recovery. It has been in operation since January 21, 2021 with no issues.

5.0 out of 5 stars This PS/2 type of mouse is working great and I was sure to buy a backup in case I ever need one

This wired mouse-model's working great, and was priced lowest of all online. My USB ports are all available to me now; with a USB mouse, not all USB ports were functioning. I assembled this PC years ago by buying a large case for the components first and then adding a fan into the back of the case. I then installed my new motherboard, into which I installed RAM modules, a CPU, a hard drive, and a DVD/CD drive. I have no need to buy a new PC, nor would I want to.

4.0 out of 5 stars Optical mouse with PS/2 connection. Beats the old style ball mouse of old.
Reviewed in the United States on March 7, 2021

It is a basic optical mouse with a PS/2 interface. Other than the scroll wheel, and the fact that it is optical, there are no no other bells and whistles.
Works perfectly out of the box on an old Pentium II machine running Windows Me. Also tried it with Windows 98, works just fune.

It is very, very light. I am not sure of the quality of its components and how long it will last. I would not use it as the mouse on my daily driver computer.
But for the occasional retro computing session it sure beats the classic ball mouse.

Thank goodness someone still sells these. pd. over 2k for a piece of high tech recording equipment (way back then) which would have been a paper weight without being able to find a new keyboard with a ps2 connector and interface

5.0 out of 5 stars Works perfectly for KVM setups in data centers
Reviewed in the United States on September 13, 2020

These mice are perfect if you work in a data center that still uses PS/2 KVM switches by NTI or Belkin. We have a mix of PS/2 and USB machines and these mice are just great. They feel great in your hand and are just the right size and resolution for server rooms. The price is great if you want to buy some spares or units to use in field kits.
