5.0 out of 5 starsWorth the money

I'm a small framed woman, originally I was a little worried to assemble this, but it was no problem at all for me.
All the parts needed for assembly were in the back of the chair, and the instructions were easy to understand.

Once put together, first thing I took note was how supportive and comfortable this chair is.. I have to work 9+ hours from home every day, so having a supportive comfortable chair is a must need for me.
I would recommend this chair.

1.0 out of 5 starsGood if you only need a chair for a month
Reviewed in the United States on May 14, 2020
The fabric/pleather on this chair has torn after a month of daily use. It was super comfortable, relatively easy to assemble, and I really enjoyed it for the time it was functioning. I would like to return the product but can’t ship it, especially with the pandemic. I never write reviews but this purchase ended up being a bummer. Give me my money back without a return Mr. Bezos, or send me a new chair.

3.0 out of 5 stars Arrived quickly, mostly comfortable
Reviewed in the United States on March 30, 2020

The office chair arrived two days early, which was nice since I needed it for work on Monday. Took 30-45 minutes to put together and the instructions were easy to follow. There is a discreperancy -- the Amazon page says it can take 275 lb. load, while the assembly instructions say 265 lb. It's preventing the back pain I was getting with my old dining room chair.

Update: After having used it for several months, I found the seat portion wasn't cushioned enough, it was too narrow (legs kept smashing into the sides or the arm rests), and my back got to aching after a few hours in it. So downgrade from 4-start to 3-star.

3.0 out of 5 stars Uncomfortable For Me
Reviewed in the United States on September 6, 2021
Color: BrownVerified Purchase
So far this year I ordered more than 30 items from Amazon. Everything from a/c filters to storage tubs to a vacuum cleaner and this chair. Nearly all of the items were great, and I am happy with them. And in the past I have order a bunch of Amazon Basics products that I found to be good purchases. So, when I needed a new office chair I turned to Amazon, and their Amazon Basics chair because I have trust in Amazon products, and over all the chair received good reviews. Unfortunately, I am not happy with my decision.

The chair looks nice, was easy (actually very easy) to assemble, and the initial quality seems good. But I find the chair very, very uncomfortable. When I am sitting and working it is okay, but when I want to take a break for a few minutes and kick back at my desk, the chair just doesn't cut it for me. I like a chair that has a little more tilt so I can lean back and stretch, and a chair that has less tension than this chair. If I want to tilt back the chair's tension is so tight it pushes me back upright. And before you ask, yes I did adjust the tension control to make as loose as possible.

To me, a chair should be more than an item you sit in upright, it should seamlessly meld with your body, and body movement to the point that you don't even realize you are in a chair. But sadly, this chair fights me whenever I want to move or shift. It has it's own point of view and enforces it. It takes control and doesn't work harmoniously with my body.

If I didn't already throw away the box I would return it for a refund. But foolish me, I thought this chair was going to be a winner and the packaging has already met its fate at the recycling center. I guess when it comes to chairs you should really sit in them before you buy them and throw away the packaging.

Off to a store to buy a new chair for myself. Not sure what I will do with this one--but I won't be using it much longer. Just wish I could return it as is. Oh well, so it goes...

3.0 out of 5 stars Color is permeable and darkens if you have dark jeans

Chair is comfortable, easy to assemble & provides expected support. Problem I have noticed- color is sensitive to color of your pants- I have sat on it for Les than a week and already see a blue hue from my jeans on the ivory. So going to look for some kind of protectant spray to keep color. Either that or a seat cover.

3.0 out of 5 stars Meh, it'll do
Reviewed in the United States on December 11, 2021

The back is completely hollow. I'm going to fill mine with nuts for the winter. The screws are screwy and really frustrating to deal with. When I sat my delicate 250 pound frame into the chair that is supposed to support 275 pounds there was MUCH crackling and a nihilistic sense of the chair's impending doom despite having just been created with love and and a lot cussing. This is the chair for those of us that want to look fancy but cannot afford the actual fancy chair that will support your back and tell you who's your daddy. This chair will be sat on with the expectation that my back will feel stiff, my legs swollen and my ass numb. But I have to sit in something and the milk crates ain't cuttin' it. So in conclusion: this chair is better than a stack of milk crates stolen from behind the local super mar-shay.

3.0 out of 5 stars It's what you expect for $80...and nothing more.
Reviewed in the United States on December 13, 2021
Color: BrownVerified Purchase
The assembly is easy, but it does take 30-45 minutes. The hardest part is aligning the back to the arm, which is easier if you don't tighten any of the armrest screws until they are all in place. I too was worried about the back being hollow, so I took another reviewer's advice and put a smaller Harbor Freight blanket folded to size in there. It provided extra padding and you can't tell once it's zipped up. This isn't the only chair that ships with the parts in the back cushion (no padding), so it wasn't a deal-breaker for me, but I would probably avoid it in the future.

It does feel like you are sitting forward/more upright than what is normal, but that could be because my old chair was too far back and I just got used to it. I'll have to wait and see if I get used to it, but it is probably better for my back since it forces me to sit upright, although not as comfortable. The cushion is padded enough, but you still kind of bottom out on it, but not so much that it's hard on your backside.

Let's face it, I bought it because it was cheap, and you get what you pay for. If you really want a super soft chair with all the adjustments, it's going to cost you $250 and up. This chair looks nice, is sturdy enough and doesn't creak like my old chair did, but I don't expect it to last more than 5 years before the covering starts to wear and it starts falling apart. I'm 6'2"/230 lbs and it works, but isn't the most comfortable chair I've ever sat in (not the worst either). It's going to feel different for different people, so you can't judge by one review whether this is the chair for you. The quality and looks are okay, but since I'm going to be in this for 8 hours a day, I don't love the comfort. Maybe I'm just used to my old chair and will get used to it in time, but it's average overall, so I give it 3 stars. I think it's better for shorter/lighter people. As far as the reviews with broken lifts or ripped cushions, either they were too heavy for the chair or they got a bad one shipped to them...I wouldn't worry about that too much. My average review is mostly because of the comfort and lack of adjustments. In hindsight, I'd probably pay more for a chair that allows me to adjust the angle of the back to the seat instead of this 'one size fits all' approach.

3.0 out of 5 stars Perplexed Assembly
Reviewed in the United States on January 5, 2022
Color: BrownVerified Purchase
I was very impressed with this chair, but there are issues. I do not feel it not as sturdy as a previous chair I ordered. For the price, it is acceptable. I think stripping the screws putting arms on is a real possibility. In addition, it was very time consuming to get the arms on. The holes lined up, but getting the screws in was very frustrating. Instructions were excellent and very well printed. They are large enough to see clearly how the parts fit together. The material quality is very good for the price. This is a lower back chair. Support is not as good as a chair that is three to four times the price. The reason for the lack of five stars was the arm assembly. Base assembly was genius. Wheels are ok. Packaging was genious too. It reduced the size of the shipping box a lot. Would I buy another? Probably not. I think I would opt for a more plush chair with a higher back and lumber support.

3.0 out of 5 stars Budget Office Chair
Reviewed in the United States on February 10, 2022
Color: BlackVerified Purchase
The word "budget" comes with a list of less than superior features. I would not purchase another of these chairs, but it is sufficient for now, depending on how long it holds up. The assembly, while not very difficult, did not respond very well. Numerous pre-threaded screws would not tighten fully. Hand tight with the supplied tool seemed to be too much, and several of them would not tighten at all. They did not align very well. I work on cars and am very experienced with properly starting and tightening a screw to avoid stripping or cross-threading. The chair has budget hardware, and it showed from the beginning.
Once assembled, the chair is comfortable enough, but after just a few days of use, began squeaking and creaking annoyingly. It was necessary to turn the chair over and lubricate where it was possible, but some of the noise actually comes from inside of the seat itself where it attaches to the base. Additionally, the arms had to be retightened (the screws that would tighten), and at this point, I don't feel that they will remain intact for years by any means. They wobble, and I surely would not use them to lift the chair.
So overall, for now, it's useable and comfortable. The assembly wasn't difficult, but not an overall well engineered pre-assemble plan nor hardware. Definitely a good price, but nowhere near five stars either. Far more trouble to consider dis-assembly and returning than it's worth, so for now, I'll live with it, but plan that I'll probably need to be replacing it with a better than "budget" office chair in a less than reasonable time. This chair is probably not what you want if you need to use it constantly. Everything works on it-the rocking function, lumbar support, comfortable seat, and hydraulic seat lift, but it creaks badly while you sit in it, the arms do not securely fasten and therefore are loose, and the plastic that is meant to cover the joint of the five arms at the base might as well not been included. No way will it stay on without gluing. Oh well, you get what you pay for lives on.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not easy to put together, but not bad
Reviewed in the United States on January 11, 2022
Color: BrownVerified Purchase
For the price, this is actually a fairly comfortable chair, but it does have a few overall flaws, mostly with the design and especially with assembly. One of the greatest areas lack is in support for the back. The entire chair comes packed into the back piece, except for the seat. As a result, there's a huge, hollow area in the back rest, which you feel when you lean back. I suppose I could fill it with foam or something, it would be nice if they just put it in a slightly bigger box (like the giant one Amazon ships in), and stuffed the back.

Construction has two big flaws. First, you have to assemble the star shaped piece that holds the wheels. It has five bolts. The instructions say to check and tighten these every 90 days. You snap a cover on over them. So, to check and tighten these, which are on the bottom of the chair... you are expected to flip it over (as an FYI, when you do this, the chair falls off the air-lift), remove the plastic cover, tighten and redo it. Not going to happen, and we all know that. So, if you have this design element that requires impossible maintenance for safety... why not just eliminate it and make this a solid piece, like most every chair I've ever owned?

Second, the back of the chair bolts on using four bolts to the two arm rests. You've got to press the arm to the back hard in order to get the bolts in. And, you've got to get all four of them aligned just right -- on mine, the "leather" cover covered two of the holes, and they weren't properly cut. I had to tear it to get the bolts in. Seems like there should be a better way to do it. Frankly, deeper sockets and longer bolts would have done it, too.

Once its all together, though, it is fairly comfortable, except for that hollow back thing. It does seem mostly sturdy, except that the chair doesn't click onto the air lift very well -- so, if you lean too far back, the "seat" part of it might come off the wheels.

Overall, you get what you pay for, and this was a very "Basic" chair.

3.0 out of 5 stars Small Poor Design
Reviewed in the United States on June 1, 2022
Color: BlackVerified Purchase
I have used a lot of office chairs over the last 30 years and this is bottom of the barrel of all the chairs I have used. This one has a very nice leather looking finish, but it is poorly designed and made. The holes for the screws are not properly aligned and the steel holding them together is too thin. It is somewhat easy to assemble, but because of the poor design sometimes it takes longer than it need be to align the bolts in the holes. It is relatively small, it is fine for small frame people. It is probably comfortable for people under 140 pounds. I am 220 lbs and it is a very tight fit. It looks nice, but feels cheap when I sit on it. The chair is designed to save on shipping not to be comfortable or have good ergonomics. The packaging and design is creative, but clearly for the purpose of keeping costs down, it is not an $80 chair. You can get used chairs of this quality for free. I am tempted to return it, except it would be too heavy and bulky to carry up stairs at the return place escalator. The only good thing about this chair is that it is not made in China. I would not buy again.

3.0 out of 5 stars Underwhelming, not enough value for the cost.
Reviewed in the United States on April 3, 2022
Color: BlackVerified Purchase
Recently started WFH full time, and I needed a chair. Decided to go with a budget option before trying something more expensive.

Overall, the chair is decent. It is actually fairly comfortable, especially considering the fact that the components are shipped zipped into the hollow back. I am still comfortable after sitting in it for a few hours straight. I like that the armrests are padded.

Other than that, build quality leaves a lot to be desired even for a budget chair. There are the usual sloppily sewn parts, and the pleather probably won't last too long. But the real issue for me is how the chair feels when sitting in it. If you lean off to the side, it feels like the chair is going to break; some of the wheels pop off the ground; and the pneumatic tube simply sits on the wheels, there's no secure attachment. The lean functionality also seems unstable, and the degree of tilt is definitely not as much as advertised.

Conclusion: Decent value considering the price, and most will probably find it satisfactory. My recommendation is to shell out a little more money for better build quality, or find a better low-budget option.
