Good Onion Flavor and Aroma

I like the value of this onion powder, especially since it's organic. I wonder where the onion powder originally is from though because the package only says it's packed in the U.S. and doesn't mention the product's origin.

It's got a good onion aroma, but I wouldn't call this a powder. It's more of a granulated onion vs. actual powder.

We usually buy an organic brand of garlic powder from the grocery store but decided to order this Watkins brand instead. We compared it to the other organic brand we had and Watkins was much better! The smell was more “garlicky” and the taste was also “garlicky”. We will be getting Watkins garlic powder again!

Tricalcium Phosphate in an Organic Product!

The flavor is good and a large size makes value Great, but I have been having a " marionette" look on my mouth and chin and rough appearance with bloat in my body lately so I checked the ingredients because the aroma is very strong looking for " flavor enhancers" like monosodium glutamate. I saw " tricalcium Phosphate listed at the end of the organic spice list and was surprised! The window for returning this product is closed so I won't be getting a refund from Amazon. I feel that organic products shouldn't have chemical preservatives. This is an outrage! Watkins has " money back guarantee" on the back label but no telephone number just a email address. I guess I will try them. I called Watkins and they said they couldn't refund my money and that I had to ask Amazon. I called customer service and was given a refund even though the " window" has closed. I was refunded the entire amount back to my EBT card immediately! I disposed of the purchase. Thanks Amazon!

Great organic garlic

This is really good garlic powder. It is organic from India and has really good flavor that has some depth, but not overly sharp. Garlic powder ranges from fine powder (like talcum powder) to more granular and coarse (almost like table salt). This is about halfway between, just into the range of what I would call granulated garlic. The more granular it is, the more sharp the flavor tends to be, so I usually keep very fine powder (softer richer flavor) and granulated garlic (sharper and stronger) on hand and alternate depending on what I am making.

Organic also is important to me because some sources are fairly industrialized in their process and use heavy pesticides, and GMO garlic and onion have tested high in pesticides. It costs a bit more, but tastes so much better than the mass produced garlic powder that is one-note and just strong, but without character. India and California produce some fantastic organic garlic.

This container is 22ounces and the onion powder is so potent it will last a long time. So much cheaper per ounce and high quality than buying small containers of onion powder at grocers. If you need onions and don’t have any-this will be an excellent substitute. Added in fried potatoes, meats, sauces, grilling, roasts adds just the extra touch. Versatile, economical, and even ORGANIC! Most organic foods/spices the cost is too high for a normal person. This isn’t. I have purchased the Tones Onion Powder and like it -but after purchasing this it will be a staple in my spice cabinet. As stated-intense flavor so a little goes a long ways!

This arrived on the same day as another brand claiming to be the same weight. Watkins bottle is filled to the brim, bright green color and wonderful. The other brand is brown and just above the half way mark in volume. Watkins knocks it out of the park ...once again! Yay!

I prefer to use fresh unpeeled garlic when I cook. But that's not always an option at times. This granulated garlic is almost just as good as fresh garlic. Although it isn't listed on the label, this garlic is gluten free, which is very important in our household. I do wish they were a little more open with the country of origin. Seems like it's from the USA, but also seems odd that they wouldn't just come out and say that in the replies for the questions listed here on Amazon. We prefer to buy everything as local as possible.

Have purchased many of the Watkins spice products over the past 5-7 years and have always been very pleased with the quality. As I wrote in a previous review of another product, I buy for utility & quality, not name brand (not to say that Watkins is not a great name brand), and this suits my family’s needs just fine without having to wade thru the deceptive ads of all the “trendy” brands that many in the younger generation finds so pleasing. I love it and think it’s a GREAT product & value!
