Bought to get the remote

Our remote for Fire Stick apparently died. I tried every thing on line to revive it. When I saw the prices of just the remote I decided for a few dollars more might as well get the whole thing and not worry about pairing remote and Fire Stick. I am not happy the remote by itself was almost as much as both together.

It didn’t work. If you are going to sell a refurbished item you should probably take the time to actually refurbish it.

My firestick was acting up and I went through all the protocols and it did not come back to life. I ordered this updated Certified Refurbished Fire TV Stick with Alexa Voice Remote. It was easy to install and is working fine. I like this remote has the volume on the firestick so I don't have to switch between remotes. Alexa voice remote works well for everything except turning on the TV.

New Home Screen Needs Work

The new home screen has a main menu which, according to Amazon's description, should have these main categories:

Find
Libraries
Live
Settings

But "Libraries" isn't really there. After an hour chatting with Firestick support to find out where I can find my DVR recordings and Watchlist and purchased movies, the fifth support person was able to point out that "Libraries" is now a sub-category of "Find", instead of being a main menu item, as the document (and common sense) tells us.

For whatever reason this thing beats my fully upgraded old NVIDIA TV shield box, what's called PRO version now. This fire stick never freezes, never hesitates, super fast and efficient. Operates flawlessly no matter what I throw at it. I even was able to watch movies from website with ease I could not watch with NVIDIA shield or SONY TV. It intuitively turns on mouse when needed for browsing web. You tube just comes on right away what looks like before I even press the button. Voice operation is quite impressive as well. TV controls work very well! This is TV stick on steroids! I am thinking of selling my NVIDIA and getting fire stick 4K version.

Refurbished remote may need manual reset before pairing to Stick

This refurbished unit was packaged well and looks new. However, after plugging in the stick, the on-screen instructions indicated it was searching for the remote.- and couldn't detect it Tapping the remote's Home button as instructed did not help. Because there are no obvious power indicator lights on the remote when I pressed buttons, I thought maybe the batteries were bad. But replacing with new batteries didn't help. So I assumed I had a bad remote...Not true. The problem appears to be with the refurbished state of the remote- Unlike a new remote it needed to be manually reset by holding the home button for 10 seconds at which point the blue indicator light on the remote blinks- and the stick was then able to detect the remote.

I was really impressed by this Firestick. I've had a couple of these for a while now, but I decided to add this one to a TV that didn't have one. I was really surprised at how much easier it was to get this one up and running. They've really made some improvements over the years.

For the most part, all I really had to do was connect it, put the batteries in the remote (which are supplied) and hold down the home button for a few seconds and most everything else was done for me. I didn't even have to connect it to the internet, that was done for me as well.

Now... Talk about speed and ease of use... Well, this thing was really smooth and had all my settings ready to go. So all in all. I'd definitely recommend it. 🙂

My service from our local streaming provider was unsatisfactory. Its servers overloaded and constant buffering. Their service guy said he had the same problem but he used a firestick and downloaded the app and everything was good. I tried one, it worked, so I bought 2 more, (Refurbished). Installed fast, downloaded the app needed and am very happy. Cancelled the set top boxes (monthly rental and kinetic tv service from windstream (big savings) but retained the internet service from Windstream which is OK in my area.

I’m so happy with the service I can program the streamers I like, workout training programs, music streaming and so much more. The current TV Fire stick has the tv controls which limits the number of remotes I have and had the Fire stick lite devices with no tv control in 2 other rooms so everyone can stream what they want! I highly recommend it! I purchased refurbished because it was in my budget and I use it everyday! Easy accessibly, setup, account/profile setup and download, etc. Has amazing streaming quality, voice integration that is easy to use and Alexa works really well when you want to use that option.

Apple decided they weren't going to produce any further updates for our Apple TV box. One at a time, the apps would quit working and we would be greeted with a message pretty much stating that the unit was at the end of its life, so we purchased this FireTV stick. We had problems right away getting the remote to sync. That was immediately solved by reading the quick start guide. It works just as good as the 4K model we bought for our bedroom a few months ago.

Not sure what warranted the question about "thickness" as it appears to be a basically standardized size in comparison with similar competitor products.

Premium subscriptions are available if you want them at affordable prices. We are paying two hundred dollars a month for satellite TV and now I'm asking myself WHY? Buy this, it's awesome.
