Customer Reviews, including Product Star Ratings help customers to learn more about the product and decide whether it is the right product for them.
To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyzed reviews to verify trustworthiness.
For my needs, these folders will work just fine. I don't have any others to compare them to, so you'll have to read the other reviews for that. What I did notice is that the paper is not as smooth as other folders. It's not really a big deal, but it's a noticeable difference for me even without other folders to compare. The most annoying thing about the box I received is that the folders were not completely segregated by tab location. Normally, there's a stack of left tabs, middle tabs, and right tabs. The orientation of the folder folds may vary so they fit the the box, for example the middle tab folders might be backwards. That's fine. But as I was trying to get a few of each tab type, I noticed that there was a folder with a left tab in the middle of the folders with middle tabs. There were a couple of middle tab folders in the center of the stack of right tab folders. The stack of right tab folders and middle tab folders were together but the stack of left tab folders was divided into two and half were backwards. It makes me question whether I actually received 200 folders. Frankly, there's enough there that I'm not really worried about being shorted but the fact that they were all mixed up does make me question the quality. I ended up taking all of them out the box and re-sorting them so everything was together. It's really a little thing and probably wouldn't affect any future purchases of this product, but it was annoying!
I'm comparing these to the standard ones I buy at the big chain store because those are the ones I normally buy. Thickness: Color: These colors match almost exactly. Length: These are 5/16" shorter in total height. But when folded this amounts to no difference in height because the front flap has the full 5/16" difference. To help explain, the normal brand has the two ends that meet at the top and these don't match at the top. Weight: The paperweight of the Amazon Basic is thinner than the normal brand. They feel less reusable than the normal brand. When looking at their thickness together you can see that is it thinner, but not quite at 1/2 the thickness. Durability: These feel like they are more of a one time use folder. They don't feel like they could be reused. I think they are probably a fine product for most people. As long as the price is right, we'll switch our purchases over to these, save a little money and maybe some trees since they are thinner and shorter.
I use hanging file folders excessively so I don't worry about a manila file folder lacking the integrity to hold up long term. Other reviewers complain about them being on the thin side. Yes, they are a touch thinner than normal/standard but how much can you possibly load into a single manila file folder?
These arrived in a sturdy box that was inside of another shipping box which was nice so they didn't get beat up in the shipping process. I always have various writing projects and research so I am in need of file folders often so I like the quantity provided and I believe the price is fair regardless of them being a touch thinner than normal.
These standard Manila File Folders are not as thick or rip-resistant as other name-brand folders I have used in the past. However for the amount (200), and if you require a lot of filing without heavy contents inside the folder, then this set should do the job.
I found them to be lightweight and a bit more flimsy, so if you are planning to stuff a lot into a file, you might want a heavier grade folder.
Basic filing and cost effectiveness, and/or budget, is a plus for this box of 200.
These manila file folders work just as you would want them to. They are functional. What they are not is excellent quality, but I did not need them to be. We are using them to reorganize our file cabinet and therefore ordering them in bulk was desirable. But, if you do not need to many at one time then you might prefer a brand like SMEAD that is sturdier and thicker.
I needed folders to help me get organized at home and these are working great for me. They are a more flimsy than other manila folders I have used, but they are a good value for the money, and are holding up well.
